This is definitely the story I’m most excited for. I really enjoy these small peaks into the Targaryen history. I like how the infighting between the family members slowly eroded their power base and pretty much brought about their downfall. Before I do my next ASOIAF reread I need to do the three short stories and the history book again.

After the last two, I wasn't looking forward to this. I found them both pretty boring. This one seemed better, though it's still one of the weaker stories of the anthology for me.

I'd probably have liked it better as a narrative rather than a historic telling.
