Jeff | 959 comments There are two Kindle editions for this book and should probably be merged. Only one has an ASIN (B01N7QM9AU). Please update the details for this one and if appropriate, merge the second one into it.

Please correct the page count - it says 429 but Amazon's product page says 336 and in the Kindle edition it shows 327.
The second one which I suspect should be merged into the first is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Also, please add details for the Audible Audio edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Authors (additional): Sally Vahle (Narrator), Morgan Laure (Narrator)
ASIN: B06XPLMH2P
Pub Date: May 2, 2017
Publisher: Audible Studios
Num pages: 9
Edition: Unabridged
Audible link for cover image: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Memory...

Thank you.

Empress (the_empress) Queued for merging with a super-librarian here. Page count corrected on kindle edition with ASIN.

Audible edition set with details and asin B06XPMWDXR

Audible edition added with ASIN you provided here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Audible edition added for the cover you linked (different ASIN): https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Please use the "switch to this edition" link on the book page to swap to your edition (if listening to the audio edition)

Jeff | 959 comments Ok, thanks! I'm curious, can you tell me why there are separate editions using the ASIN on the Amazon page and the ASIN that's in the URL on Audible? I've never understood why they have different numbers when it's the same edition whether you buy it on Amazon or Audible.

Jeff | 959 comments Also, I noticed the page count for the ...GBFY one says 8; shouldn't that also be 9 (8:46)?

ASINs are Amazon/Audible only assigned identifier. Unfortunately every single amazon and audible domain assigns it's unique ASIN for the same title and even the same edition. Which means there is one ASIN fo amazon.it and another asin for audible.it and so on for each country.

While all those editions are identical, they also valid edition by Goodreads standards and often people want to shelf the specific edition they bought. Sometimes (on kindle and paper editions) there are differences. For example the title or the cover may differ in UK and US.

It should, thanks for noticing. It was a finger-keyboard related error. Let's not blame it on the computer user! :)

Jeff | 959 comments Ok, thank you for the explanation. It makes sense that it would vary from country to country since there are probably difference, language or whatever. I suspect that even the UK editions may have more than cover or title difference. I've listened to some audiobooks by British authors while following along in the Kindle edition, and have heard the narrator replace some British terms with American ones (presumably they kept the original in the UK edition).

Still, does it make sense to have two U.S. editions in Goodreads? I realize that both ASINs (Amazon and Audible) are valid, but aren't these actually one edition? If I purchase it on Amazon, my purchase confirmation comes from Audible. Or if I already own it, Amazon will tell me that it's in my Audible library. Just a thought... there may be a reason I'm not aware of.

Thanks!

Empress (the_empress) It's not about being a different editions. It's about having a valid identifier. After all we are a cataloguing database. Which edition you chose to shelf is up to you.

Here is where I asked the question 3 years ago and you can see staff confirms we are allowed to add those editions and that they are valid edition by Goodreads standard.
