Only staff can merge a profile into a claimed one- this is the correct thread- https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/....
If the stray profile had no followers and just a few books, you could just edit the author name within the book records. In this case, the stray profile does have followers, so that will require staff.

I don't see how to merge his profile since he's active on Goodreads, which may mean I'm just blind. Hopefully someone else knows how.
