I didn’t know about a specific cave, I only know a bone cave as one containing fossil bones. There are some at Inchnadamph.

. Not a word in common
. Each line yields an ordinary English dictionary word
. The order of the words (and therefore the songs) is important and gives a well-known oft-quoted phrase

Hamlet perchance?
Yes HB, you're right of course! :-)
Are you sure you don't want to have a go at setting one? I don't have another one ready.
Handybird wrote: ... I suspect my effort may prove too easy ...Don't worry, my first attempt was guessed in one go - for my second I had to give several hints before anyone could get it. As far as I was concerned they were equally easy/difficult!
I don't think the rules are well-defined. Also there's no hurry. If there's no progress after a while you could give another song or perhaps a clue as to what sort of puzzle it is (or isn't). Currently I'm looking for another word in common. If I can't find one I'll look for a different kind of connection!
As TB says, rules aren't well -defined, in fact there aren't any, just habits that evolve over time. Currently we tend to add another clue after 24 hours. Having said that, TB's latest try looks promising....
To answer your question, we would probably frown on homophones - for example if 'fair' was actually 'fare' in your above set, then that would be a bit unfair :). On the other hand, words which look the same but are pronounced differently (eg lead/lead) are OK. Something to do with this being a written puzzle, I think.
This is just my understanding of it, others may take issue with me. As they said about the pirate code in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' ," It's more just guidelines really'.

Child in Time - Deep Purple
Scarborough Fair - Simon and Garfunkel"
Normally the person who guesses correctly is supposed to set the next one. Since you didn't know that and I haven't got anything ready, I'm happy for you to take my turn :-)
P.S. I haven't detected any link(s) yet!

Haven't come up with anything, apart from the obvious, but just wanted to say thanks for the links, I've loved watching these again :)

Great idea - better than mine! Not what I'm looking for though.
One correct
Hint
(view spoiler)
Or maybe just 'on the shelf'? Looks good, I'd thought of Continental shelf, but didn't get any further.
Shelf is correct. My solution was:-Continental shelf
Top shelf
on the shelf
It was a joint effort with nocheese but think I'll have to give it to HB!
red?red queen
red spine (this has to do with books but I'm not sure what it indicates - something to do with classics I think)
red wine
Well, having tried red, I'll try white!white queen
white spine (a type of cucumber)
white wine
(by the way, how many did I get?)

Very surreal - it's either Salvador Dali or Marcel Marceau 😕!
Martin wrote: ... Very surreal - it's either Salvador Dali or Marcel Marceau 😕!"You're on the right track!
nocheese wrote: "So are we looking for an 'artiste' such as an actor, a painter, a dancer?"Was Marcel Marceau any of those?
nocheese wrote: "Well I think he was an actor and a dancer as part of being a mime artist."Fair enough.
