I'm sure we will kick ourselves when one of us gets it, but in the meantime I'm stumped. Do you have a 'giveaway' clue up your sleeve, Val, or have you already posted it?
I'm not very clever with clues. Anything I give you is likely to be thin and end up an even more waste of your time. Last link (may help) :
News Of The World - Paul Weller
It did help Val, and I am kicking myself. It’s a sign of the times that it took a while to link carbon with paper, a result of our paperless offices. Good one.Paper

No. 12. "Paper roll" works fine but I was thinking "paperback". Glad it's gone off as I was out of clues. The "news" clue only came to me at the last minute when I was pondering what to reply to you.
Sign of the times #2. Does anyone make paper hats any more? My Dad used to make great ones from newspaper. I suppose we still talk of paper hats in Christmas crackers.
Thanks Val. I should have got paperback. When I thought of paper hats it was the newspaper kind that came to mind, but I don't know if I've ever actually seen one. I've been thinking for a while that this game is getting a little unwieldy, and wondering if we could speed things up by narrowing the field of possible answers a little. Maybe we could stipulate that all links are somehow music related, or go alphabetically? Any thoughts or other suggestions?
Perhaps a particular named theme e.g. film titles, books, politicians, etc.e.g. in my "paper" theme, there were song titles - "Paper Doll", "Paper Tiger", even "paperback" was part of a song title. I could have had "Paper Roses". "Paper Moon" was a film, as was "The Paperboy" and "Paper Planes".
Music-related should give us wiggle room, though I suppose that's what the game's about. I often wonder how it's progressed like this when it used to be 'got' after 4 or 5 choices.Of course it really boils down to having more participants but there's not a lot we can do about that.
Thanks for those helpful comments, Val and Lez. Anyone else got an opinion or suggestion? I’m hoping there are a few more folks out there who follow this thread and would participate more often if we changed it a bit.
Apparently not. Maybe we can just state our theme at the start. My word can be music related, although not exclusively:Don't Let the Light in - Low Island
For a Worthy Cause - Dead Pioneers
Hallelujah I'm a Bum - New Christy Minstrels

Hi all, I still keep an eye on this thread but have not been able to give it, or many others, my full attention for a while as I am totally snowed under at work and also trying to get my "new" house together.Val had me completely stumped on the last one.
I can't think of any constructive suggestions for changing the format either, I'm afraid.

Assuming I'm right, your "clue" made this relatively easy, nc.

Well, clearly NC got it. Sorry, I didn't realise a hyphen would make such a big difference. And I was so careful to avoid listing anything by Herman's Hermits.
My mistake Gordon, I shouldn’t have assumed that it couldn’t be apple. Good one, anyway, and it might have come to Herman’s Crabby Pets eventually.

Well, by George, Gordon, you've got it, although can I get my revenge and ask you to have another shot at #1?
