TwoddleBungler | 4920 comments Hint: This is not the usual 'word in common' puzzle (or indeed affix in common). However you can if you wish use the traditional method to help solve it, i.e. you can guess words in common! It can also be solved without using that method. Sorry if that is cryptic but to say more would give away the answer.

Is there a rule that I have to be that perspicacious?

It's in subsection 21.14.09, paragraph 3

message 1825: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments Which states that if another player has the perspicacity to notice that your guess is logically impossible, then it's only good manners to withdraw it.

message 1826: by TwoddleBungler (last edited Jul 25, 2019 03:53AM) (new)

TwoddleBungler | 4920 comments I seem constantly to bump into unwritten rules. I see the game as one of logic rather than pure wordsmithery. Guessing something impossible allows one to eliminate unfeasible answers in a logical manner - is that so bad?

message 1827: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments Your answer can't be right - that's not wordsmithery, it's logic.

message 1828: by TwoddleBungler (last edited Jul 25, 2019 06:13AM) (new)

TwoddleBungler | 4920 comments nocheese wrote: "Your answer can't be right - that's not wordsmithery, it's logic."
Logic is what I'm advocating!

Incidentally, hitherto when I shared my reasoning with others I was asked not to. That's why I'm currently hiding it. To ask me now to accede to the reasoning of others seems inconsistent at the least. Maybe I too wish to work things out for myself.

1 link TB

message 1840: by TwoddleBungler (new)

TwoddleBungler | 4920 comments Just checking Val. nc uses 'wind' and 'pass' and so do I. I'm not sure if my logic is haywire but how can one of us have 2 links and the other have one? Ta.

message 1841: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22144 comments TB - I have made this error in the past. Perhaps only 1 of 'wind' and 'pass' is correct. In which case, nc's 3rd link is correct.

message 1842: by TwoddleBungler (last edited Jul 26, 2019 06:32AM) (new)

TwoddleBungler | 4920 comments Oops, you're right! I was stuck on the pre-edit score.
