Well done nc. When I started I didn't think I had many link words but more and more seemed to occur to me as I went along. I still had aunt, speech, flight, voyage and race lined up. It was you who gave me the idea from your last set when you had "hand" in the first clue and "over" in the third.

Wonderful! I had a maiden great-aunt whose diaries, which date from 1926 - 1963, I am currently working through.

She died in 1979 at the age of 96. They've been in my possession since the mid-eighties, and I have read them before, although not in great detail. Then this summer we were contacted by relatives in Australia who were researching family history. I told them about the diaries, and when they visited they painstakingly photographed every page. I now get bombarded with emails asking questions only some of which I can answer. They have decided to transpose them to Word, and in a moment of madness I volunteered to help. It's a big task, but immersive. She wrote about her day last thing before going to bed every night. It's a revelation just how fascinating the mundane details of a modest life can be.
Sounds wonderful, nc! We know almost nothing of our family history, not even our grandparents’ first names. I did have a wonderful great-aunt Cissie (Constance), a widow rather than maiden, born in the 1870s. Sadly she developed what was then called senile dementia and whenever my dad went to visit, she told him he’d just missed the Duke of Edinburgh who’d popped in for a cuppa.I’m putting a pic on my profile.
