Val H. | 22141 comments I think Lez and I are in the same age-group. Valued Opinions has just asked me:

Have you purchased a nocillating vaciliscope for your car within the past six (6) months?

I't's obviously for aging females - maybe to locate the nearest public convenience?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments What do they count as aging? I'm tempted to sign up just to see if I get the same question.

Val H. | 22141 comments Given that I rarely qualify for any of their surveys (although I do have over £30 earned there), it's probably anyone over 35 I'd guess.

I'd like to try that - sounds like it could be delicious.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I've always loved rather daft and ditzy remarks that stem from a temporary absence of thinking - and, Heaven knows, I've certainly made more than enough of them myself! - LOL! ;o>

What really saddens and even rather scares me these days is just how often I hear or get to read of such ditzy comments and suddenly realise that there is actually now a whole generation out there who apparently seem to live entirely for (and inside of) Social Media - and who seem to be utterly unaware to the point of sheer ignorance of anything else that can't easily be summed up in a very badly written Facebook post or Tweet to all of their other mates ... "U now wot I meen?"

Serial Sock Trumpet (serialsocktrumpet) | 1998 comments I agree , Suzy.

It's the age of stupid, the age of watching 'amusing' cat videos on youtube.
An age of useless human beings who have no want to learn any life skills, happy to plod along getting obese and brain dead.

These people would call an electrician to wire a plug.

Imo they should be shot.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments There seems to be a deliberate defiant in-your-face kind of pride from coming across as, or even in actually being, 'stupid' these days? And these people are in our present and will be our future?!! ... ARRRGGGHHH!!! ;oO

And those 'amusing' Cat Videos on YouTube are also just SO last year now! - howling Huskies is where it's really at ;o> ...

Lez | 7490 comments I hate the trend for intelligent and well-educated people to deliberately use bad grammar:
“Myself and my sister went shopping”
“Have you got a pet?” “I don’t”
“We was watching.....”

Surely they wouldn’t write like that?

message 163: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments Indeed, standards have slipped so far that intelligent, well-educated people quite happily use split infinitives.

message 164: by Sera69 (last edited Oct 17, 2017 05:43AM) (new)

Sera69 | 1921 comments Stupididdity's not exclusive to the young, there are also a lot of slightly older peeps that seem to believe they are god's given to pontificate over us without having stepped into the real world! These worry me far more than the mobile zombies, whom natural selection will take care of soon enough!

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments nocheese wrote: "Indeed, standards have slipped so far that intelligent, well-educated people quite happily use split infinitives."

See, I had such a lousy Education in a place that sadly barely even qualified as being worthy of being called a School - and so I had to just Google what a Split Infinitive is and I'm still not entirely sure now even after reading several definitions?! ... but at least I made the effort to go looking and to try to find out instead of just settling for being proud over not having a clue ;o>

In the age of Hand-held technology with Google available 24/7 to almost everyone - I just feel that there really is no excuse whatsoever for choosing to remain ignorant.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments My biggest fear is that I'll be patiently waiting for my turn in Clinic one day only to be shown in to a Consultant wearing a Hoodie and his baggy Trousers around his Knees and waving around a Stethoscope saying "Hey Dude! - these things are just like way cool, man!"

I'll be racing out of that Clinic so fast that I'll probably break all existing world records in doing so!!! ;o>

message 168: by Sera69 (new)

Sera69 | 1921 comments We should also remember that, although there are many very, very stupid people out there, chat apps, social media companies and fun sites actively create their own content to drive up hits and keep users returning

That debate has been going on for a few centuries, I believe. It arises largely from the fact that it's impossible to split an infinitive in Latin, which led some academics residing in a somewhat rarefied atmosphere to decide that it is therefore unacceptable to split an infinitive in English.

I'm slightly disturbed that only 75% of respondents knew how many moons Earth has.

Only ashamed about the capital :-(

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Gordon wrote: "I'm slightly disturbed that only 75% of respondents knew how many moons Earth has."

Well, Gordon, the answer to that does rather depend on the kind of area that you live in and on whether you happen to be walking alongside a main Road just after the Pubs have shut and when folk are being taxied home?!!

In some (thankfully other to where I live) parts of Stockport you can certainly get to see much more than just the one Moon ;o>

Moos is much funnier I suppose.

Because they are trained to get in and out without anyone noticing.
