Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments I was just in the supermarket. They have one of those things where you get tokens at the check-out to put into collections for charities. Typically you get two tokens and have to choose two from three charities to give an undisclosed sum to (I guess around 0.1p per token).

One of the charities is very worthy: it provides "rest bite" for carers.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments Can you do Mars Bars in that?

message 686: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, no.

That particular model is for single ingredient items like Flakes or Twirls. Putting in Mars Bars or Snickers invalidates the warranty. :)

I'm always slightly alarmed by people who think it's appropriate to put a big sign on the front of their shop saying "family butcher".

I think I've read some stuff by Karl Mars and Friedrich Snickers while ago.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I suppose a deep fried pizza would be out of the question?

message 690: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Well? - it would have to be a Mini Pizza.

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Sorry to derail the deep-frying conversation. I was just wondering whether anyone else is noticing a huge number of birds in their garden today. I've got loads of goldfinches alongside the usual blackbirds & wrens. None of them will use the nesting boxes I put up for them, though.

message 695: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments There is certainly a non-stop Song Fest going on in our Back Garden today, Gordon.

And we have Squirrels and Magpies having a right row as usual about just whose Trees they are sitting in as well! - LOL! ;o>

I guess they are all feeling like Spring is finally here at last?

message 696: by Lez (new)

Lez | 7490 comments While it’s great that double-glazing cuts out unwanted noise (apart from my neighbour’s Harley), I can only hear the birds if I open a door or window. Sad.

message 697: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I have to go outside to go the Garage to access the Freezer and the Washer. We have a choice of Benches I can sit on but it's a little too chilly today and there is quite a Breeze out there. It keeps wrenching the Garage Door right out of my Hands every time I open it.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments My next door neighbour has a gaping hole in her eaves, and some noisy birds build a next in the hole every year. I have enough dropped twigs to make a bonfire in front of my door. And when they are training the babies to fly I get poop splashes all over my front door. The neighbour is on disability, and can't afford to have it fixed.
