Lez | 7490 comments I’ve never recovered from my first sighting of cheese on chips.
As tech would say, “boak” 😜

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Cheese on Chips is not something I've ever tried or that appeals all that much to me either ... though it does not ever make me want to boak like our tech often does ;o>

Celery, on the other hand, always makes my Stomach turn over just at the very thought of it ;o<

Craig White | 6727 comments my daughter has partaken of a chip pizza! where did we go wrong, Lady Edgeware?

like, totally boak!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I love cheese on chips. Has to be melted and even better with crispy bacon bits.

My parents loved marmalade on their sausages.

In Ireland, sugar sandwiches used to be common, I guess a lack of anything else amongst those with little, made it a nice treat. !

Cheese on chips should only be consumed after 11pm and while drunk.

Yep! - and also Dripping Butties too, and Golden Syrup ones, and my own childhood favourite which were Condensed Milk Butties! ;o>

message 559: by Lez (new)

Lez | 7490 comments I loved sugar butties, used to have one when I got home from school. Loved dripping toast too. Conny-onny butties were really popular in Liverpool but I hated the stuff.

Isabella | 1369 comments I loved condensed milk sarnies as a kid but couldn't face it now. Anyone else remember eating raw rhubarb dipped in sugar?

Lez | 7490 comments Never heard of that, Isabella!
One of my favourite things was a sugar roly-poly, sugar rolled in left-over pastry. Weird really, I don’t buy sugar and don’t have a sweet tooth at all these days. Surprising I have any sort of teeth 😀

Val H. | 22141 comments Growing up in Africa - sucking on sugar cane! My teeth are just fine.

When sanctions began to bite and imported vodka disappeared from the shelves, cane spirit was the alcohol of choice.

Lez | 7490 comments There’s a very odd bloke on Talk Classical (large, worldwide site). I can’t decide if it’s just that English isn’t his first, 2nd or 3rd language, if he’s dyslexic, if he has mental health problems, a combination of these or something we wot not of. His name is deprofundis and he starts a thread most days, here’s his latest:

“Default more paradox ars vetus that could eassilly past for ars subtilior, is there any?
What if an as vetus composer sounded avant-garde and time loop to ars subtilior sound, im looking for the uttermost complex ars vetus that skip ars nova of philip de vitry era...
What about it folks i heard a lot of ars vetus ars nova and ars subtilior, and sometime it'S odd take 12 century music that sound late 14th century...
hello my name is Emmet Brown i discover continum space time travel(deprofundis toss a joke)
common guys paradox livings one are fascinating?
But the only problem is the following 12 annd 13 century classical music is foggy & murky we dont fully know mutch of these era classical composers, some survived whit sparse fews work like 1-5 songs...
The mystery is shrounded , we need more musicologist ala indiana jones thus said archeologist of ancient europeen music of foreign lore ..
I rest my case who is a specialist of ars vetus here, know all and by that i mean all fro ars vtus cation until philippe de vitry treaty of ars nova in 1297(correct me if im wrong).
in ars nova what omposer you find startling avant-garde complex for is era???”

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments "15,000 Eggs Delivered to Norwegian Olympic Team After Google Translate Error"

“There was literally no end to the delivery, Absolutely unbelievable” chef Ståle Johansen told Norway’s Aftenposten.

Google Translate is great for those who wish to browse news stories on foreign websites or get some help with that Spanish homework. However, the free language translation tool has its limitations and its translations can often be lost in translation, as Norway’s Olympic Team chefs recently learned.

The Norwegian camp needed some eggs for its athletes competing at the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea and turned to Google Translate for help drafting an order with a local Korean grocery store.

But when a truck load of eggs arrived at their kitchen in Pyeongchang they learned a translation error had converted their order of 1,500 eggs to 15,000 eggs!

Fortunately the chefs were allowed to return the extra 13,500 eggs but they say Norwegian athletes in need of protein can still expect a lot egg-wise.

"There will be omelettes, boiled and fried eggs, and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. And we hope there will be a lot of sugar bread made for medal winners. We have made our provisions for that," Johansen told Aftenposten.

Johansen said they serve the Norwegian team around the clock, and if the chefs run out of provisions, at least they'll know not to draft an order on Google Translate.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments You're lucky I didn't post the one of the spider!

message 591: by Martin (new)

Martin O' | 2196 comments I don't have a problem with spiders
They live in the walls you see
Sometimes they come out and wander about
And then they go home for tea
Their webs are there in the corners
Or high on the ceilings and such
With them they catch flies, they've got funny eyes
So really they don't bother me much

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I don't have a problem with small ones, its the big hairy ones I am a bit unhappy about.
