Evening Martin. Hope all is going well for y’all and keeping warm. We finally got snow lots of it but I think we’ve been lucky so far. I’m really glad I don’t have to go to work albeit M’ always took me in bad weather for fear I’d finish up in a ditch somewhere up the coast line...lol! You’ve got a few days off then are you relaxing and catching up with the toons? I haven’t gone back to your last post but you were telling me about Paul Kossoff and a Album you’d heard, sounds interesting. I’ve still got my computer so I’ll have a little scout about for his music, I might strike lucky. Anyway, enjoy your time off and you all keep warm and cosy. Night Martin. Meow for now. 🐱

Hi Jemma, snow looks set to continue through till next Monday, we haven't been hit badly compared with up North. Thomas is on holiday for two weeks so has been lucky and I am in Fri/Sat, Michelle is doing some course at the moment so she's been in and out all week. Mrs O's plagued with toothache at the moment, suspected abscess so is currently trying to summon enough courage to face the dreaded dentist. Always liked the Kinks from the first time I heard You Really Got Me and a string of other hits that followed with their brand of quirky lyrics. Catch you later pussycat, Ciao4now 🐶.

Lola - The Kinks

Afternoon Martin. Yes, plenty of snow hopefully not for too much longer though. M’ remembers the 62/63 winter ‘when he was a lad’ lol! Well apparently it went on from the December right through til March which must’ve been horrendous. ❄️ ⛄️
That’s good for Thomas if he’s no need to go out anywhere. I haven’t been out much this bitter weather affects my asthma so I’ve been trying to do useful things inside the house. Poor Mrs O’ it must be hell for her albeit I’ve never had one hope you get that righted soon.
I love the Kinks too and Lola is one of my faves just the opening riff is enough to know what’s coming and I love most of their songs, very quirky indeed. If you’re walking to work tomorrow mind your footing coz it looks lethal from what I can see. Have a good weekend and keep cosy. Meow for now. 🐱

Hiya Tim. Hope you’re coping ok with this white stuff too. 😎

Afternoon Martin. How’re you all faring? Thankfully the weathers very good at the moment but it looks to be heading back to the Siberian icy blast....😖 well....just have to get on with it I suppose.
We got the keys to our new home last Friday and had a look-see to what’s to be done before we move which might take 2/3 weeks so we’ll be busy for awhile decorating, then hopefully be in by the 2nd week of April. It’s seemed strange not going to work but I’ve enjoyed these last 4 free weeks and sufficiently rested for the big upheaval.
Are you now on your normal shifts coz I think you said something about overtime (I don’t envy you that) and there’s always plenty of overtime from what I’ve seen lately, glad I’m out of it.
I’ve not had much time for posting but feel free to msg if you want.
I didn’t realise Easter was at the end of March I was thinking 1/2 week of April...doh!
I did manage to listen to the new double album I bought and I’m really pleased with it. How about you, any lastest new-buy toons?
Take care of yourselves and maybe catch you somewhere. 🐱

Pablo Neruda ~ Patty Larkin

Hi Jemma & Tim, I've eased back on work a bit for the next month or so, booked a week off in May as well. Bought a couple of things recently including an Island compilation of 60's British rock and folk. Strangely Strange But Oddly Normal is a three disc assortment of Free, Jethro Tull, Blodwyn Pig and loads of others which really captures the flavour of the period, a nostalgia fest for us old hippys. The kindle fire continues to supply me with a wealth of new sounds and has allowed me to expand my Patty Larkin collection among other things. Weather has been quite kind but wet and chilly, at least it hasn't snowed. Trees are starting to blossom so April could hopefully bring in a more Springlike improvement. Ciao4now 🐶!

Hi Suzy. It’s suiting us just fine thanks. Lots of open countryside and definitely warmer inland. The house is finished inside but there’s some work to do on the stables so we’ve left Zoe & Hunter where they are until possibly July/September albeit we miss them very much our dog Dane is with us though.
How’s life treating you sweetie?
I know you’re not keen on the hot weather so hope you’re not suffering too much. It’s been awhile since we had a catch-up.
Has anything improved for you at all?
As Nyah is at school now (it’s only 25mins from ours now...👍) we’re looking forward to spending some time with her so I’m postponing going back to work until after the school summer holiday ... September. Take care Suzy. 🤗 xxx

Martin O' | 2196 comments Azure ~ Carmel
Apathy ~ Melanie Safka

Hi All, another scorcher today - unbelievable how the weather can change so quickly! Stocking up with ice cream and lollies, hopefully it will last into next week when I'm not working and I can squeeze in a couple of cold beers in down the pub.
Azure is an old Duke Ellington toon, I like this version by Carmel as much as the original one by Ella though it's very different. Recently came across this Melanie album on my kindle fire, two cds of some damn fine music which incorporates a very broader scope and range which surprised me as I only knew her Candles In The Rain record from the seventies which I loved. There are some very rocky songs in there, opens up with a totally overhauled take on Lay Down followed up with Apathy, a superb cover of the Doobies' Long Train Running. There are still touches of her folkier side and classic songs but despite being some decades old a lot of it sounds and feels very contemporary. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it on cd for sale but you might find some or all of it on YouTube or somewhere else. Highly recommended if you can. Ciao 4 Now peeps🐶 - woof woof!

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments What's the name of the Album by Melanie, Martin? ;o>

message 294: by Martin (new)

Martin O' | 2196 comments Hi Suzy,
The Evergreen Collection supposedly reissued as Lay Down in 2008. (According to my Google Chrome) Neither of which appear on 'Zon UK and could possibly be discontinued though it is available for mp3 download or streaming. The cd version advertised is not the same however and the list of tracks is completely different unfortunately.
If you do manage to track it down, I know what a bloodhound you can be in such matters, then please let me know. Love and kisses as always xxxxxx!!😊

I found the one with the different tracks and the terrible reviews but I also found this one as well - although I think it is a 1999 Import and not a 2008 issue ...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lay-Down-MEL...

The track listing on the back looks to be promising even though I see that there is a spelling mistake on 'Ruby Tuesday' ;o>

Oooh, the back of the CD when zoomed in on says 2008, Martin!

And I also found this out about it off a Melanie Safka Website ...
