(You’re The) Devil In Disguise - Elvis Presley

Morning Martin. Weathers picking up here too, it’s positively barmy...literally...😎
You should meet my bruv....he’s the same and loves to give a little stir for good measure, it’s still that old saying though...’everyone’s got an opinion...blah..blah’! I think a well chewed debate is a good thing if I feel like it at the time if not...well....! 🤔
That’s good news that the ‘ol tax man is giving a helping hand, brilliant! It’s nice to have a money surprise before Xmas when every little counts. I don’t do politics but I’m obviously aware of the state of things it makes you wonder how we’ll be able to carry on in future years albeit I don’t dwell too much in that direction, live for now is best the future takes care of itself...I hope! 😉
I finish on Thursday for two weeks and really looking forward to it too. Are you still free for the 2 day xmas break? Take care Martin, cya on the flip....🐱

🎶......You look like an angel, walk like an angel, talk like an angel, but I got wise.....You’re the devil in disguise......🎶

Morning Tim.😎

Speaking of winter fuel allowance, did you see the lovely tale of Robert Plant (who is now of pensionable age) who, after receiving his payment, happened to run into a Labour Peer in the street and asked her what he was supposed to do with it?

Stranger In Blue Suede Shoes ~ Kevin Ayers

Evening Jemma and Tim, not long back from a good night out, went to see The Last Jedi (Totally Awesome) then meal and a pint. Yes, I'm still off for two days but two weeks! - I'm verdant with envious profusion - but I'll get over it eventually. Still surprisingly cold here, the temperature's struggling to get much above freezing for most of the day and a few patches of snow persisting in places. Just a few bits of christmas shopping left to do, nibbles, snacks, drink, presents are all wrapped, the tree is up and twinkling, all very festive. Ciao4now and Yuletide felicitations to you both

Leaving On A Jet Plane - John Denver

Afternoon Martin. Hope you’re all good. If it’s a Trekkie then my son will probably see it too, glad you enjoyed it with your pint of course! 🍺 I always save my holiday for Xmas Martin and it’ll probably be my last where we are at the mo coz we’re hopefully moving in the coming months nearer to our family. Enjoy your time off too I’m sure you deserve it.
Weather has been really cruel here, no snow as such but very hard frosts and icy conditions not that any drivers seemed to have noticed coz they’re using the roads as they do in summer. I don’t know what it is about Xmas but everyone seems to lose all sense of proportion and civility when driving, I’m sure half of them won their license on a fun-fair, it’s disgusting the risks that are taken...hmm, rant over. 😖 I’ve been good this year with shopping and cards etc, all done and not left til the last minute. 👍
Merry Xmas to you and your family Martin, hope you have a good one. 🌲 🎅 Meow for now. 🐱
🎶...... But, I’m leaving on a jet plane don’t know when I’ll be back again......🎶 I wish! 😎

Afternoon Tim. Merry Xmas. 🌲 😉

Martin O' | 2196 comments Hi Jemma, actually its the other one, Star Wars. I must admit I was a bit dubious about another reboot but was pleasantly surprised, it's not half bad. Probably be next week before I post again, had a few CD's turn up yesterday Kevin Ayers, Chris Rea and Micky Flanagan DVD. Work tomorrow and Saturday, hope there is some nice brussels left when I get to the shops! Have a good 'un, you too Tim.

Afternoon Martin. How’re you all and did you have a good Xmas?
As always the time has passed very quickly but I’ve enjoyed my time off both at home and with the youngsters. We’ve seen our new home, we hope to be in by April, really looking forward to it. How’d the new music go did you get time to listen to everything in between Xmas and working. I’m back on Tuesday.
Ryan and Layla went yesterday to see SW’s and they enjoyed it too.
I see on the news you’ve had more snow, what a shame and the poor people without electricity.....! On the whole we’ve had it good some sleet and rain but nothing laying, we’ve been lucky.
Anyway, if I don’t get to post before ‘Happy New Year’ to you all hope it’s a good one. Meow for now! 🐱

Happy New Year Jemma and Tim, finally got a few days off until Friday. Christmas was okay but I've had better, just couldn't get in the mood somehow. Glad yours went alright, being around your granddaughter must have made the time shine brightly. Treated myself to a Kindle Fire 7 so any spare time has been trying to get to grips with all the techno jargon but does give you a huge selection of music to dip into plus books. I must admit I have been rather amiss with reading for a while so my new year's resolution is to spend some time doing so. Anyway, signing off till next time, Ciao4now 🐶!

Afternoon Martin. Hope you’re all good. Yeah, Xmas passed very quickly and as you said having the little one made it more for us but she’s back at school and I’m back at work....sigh! Did you manage to get everything you wanted done in the few days you had off? I have books on my iPad but I very rarely read them, I’m old fashioned really I like the genuine article and it seems much easier to pick up a paper back. 🤔
I sometimes wonder how we fit everything into life when there’s so many things to be done or want to do...🤨 I’ve only just started listening to music again everything’s been a bit iffy lately, at least it’s always there to go back too. Catch-up with you soon. Meow for now. 🐱

Ugly ~ Jon Bon Jovi

Hi Jemma and Tim, yep, never enough hours in the day! Some years back with deteriorating eyesight due to cataracts and advancing years I gave up with books until I bought myself a kindle which allows you to adjust print size. After operations on both eyes I now manage with shop bought glasses for reading small print and close up, tablet etc. Up till then I had worn glasses since I was about 8 yrs old that grew thicker with every eye test and weighed a ton, even the innovation of plastic lenses made little difference. Anyway the rest of the family are suffering major colds, coughs, aches and pains so I'm doing the Florence Nightingale bit at the moment but work beckons once more over Friday/Saturday so they will have to fend for themselves for a couple of days. Still, I am managing to snatch an hour or two here and there, hopefully things will be better next week. Ciao4now dudes,🐶 Woof Woof!!
🎶 Ugly, ugly, all of us just feel like that some days 🎶👻

Behind Blue Eyes - The Who

Afternoon Martin. It’s bitterly cold here expect you’ve got the same...brr! That’s really sad Martin having bad eyesight that young it must’ve been a struggle for you even with glasses. I’ve witnessed what a difference the Cataract operation makes as we’ve had several residents who’ve had them done and they take on a whole new life, bless them. I’m so glad you’ve managed to get to a place where you’re comfortable with reading. I feel sorry for people who can’t read, it must be horrible. I now wear reading glasses...I mean they’re all the fashion these days aren’t they....😉
By the time you read this hopefully your family will be over the worse and did you wear your pinny in your administrations?! 🤔
There’s so many things doing the rounds at the moment so we shut our doors at work to all visitors coz the old dears are very vulnerable this time of year. I’m busy at work and home trying to pack anything that’s not going to be needed in the next 3 months..a bit hit and miss there but still forging ahead. What are you reading at the moment Martin? I usually catch a few mins with my book when I can...sigh! Anyway, take care of yourselves and keep warm. Meow for now. 🐱😀

Loving The Alien ~ David Bowie

Hi Jemma and Tim, settling into the New Year already. It's been milder today but damp and foggy, the clan are slowly getting back to normal thanks. I am not reading at the moment but have got Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy lined up, heavy stuff but hopefully worth the effort - I'll keep you posted (what they call a serious tome I believe). Still wrestling with the vagaries of the kindle fire, I'm trying to find a way to break away from the limitations of only being able to use it in the house, I suspect that any solution will involve parting with some money. Ciao4now 🐶 woof woof!
🎶And your prayers, they break the sky in two, believing the strangest things, loving the alien🎶

Afternoon Martin. It’s cold, damp, and very very grey here....boring, but obviously it could be worse, hope you’re having better.
Oh, Martin that ‘tome’ looks way past my understanding good luck with that and yes I’d be interested to know how it goes.
Well....I know nothing about Kindles but I have seen people reading them in various places and you might be right about having a price to it, that rather defeats the object though....hmm!
Everything is settling nicely here both at work and home but we’ve still got a lot of things to bag and tag, tbh I didn’t realise I had so much stufff and I’ve come across things I thought were lost...lol!
Looking on the bright side I think it’s slightly lighter in the afternoons now, roll on summer. ☀️ It’s the same every year looking forward to things and then it’s gone in a flash. But never mind, take care of yourselves and keep cosy.
