Yeah so I saw on the news....and still not getting better for the poor ol Swans....Liverpool mullered them!

I wonder how many matches will be able to go ahead this weekend, given some of the pitches are currently snowed up!

As much as I like them, Duke, I might even call them my 2nd team if one can have such a thing, I think (and hope) that they'll get a 3-0 spanking.

SussexWelsh | 7482 comments Happy New Year, everyone.

Well the Christmas punt certainly shook things up a bit! It's now pretty tight at the top,

An excellent effort of 42 from one of the new boys, Graeme, earns him a "virtual" bottle of bubbly and catapults him to the top of the standings but not by much.

Runner up on 39 was Sussex who gets himself a huge pile of roast potatoes and parsnips to wade through.

Joint third were SJ and Deano on 33. They get to share a luxury Christmas Pudding.

Very well played those four.

The remaining punters get a couple of Brussels sprouts each. I'm more than happy to take them off your hands if you're not keen.

Scores:

Graeme 42
Sussex 39
Sj & Deano 33
Gordon & Anita 30
Tech, David, RedJohn & Philip 27

Craig White | 6727 comments sad to see the attitude of the 'big 6' and other premier league teams toward the f.a. cup. seems like it's as valued now as the league cup has been for years. i.m.o., the premier league is killing english football. the ridiculous money involved, too many non-english players (which also harms the national team) and coaches, who have little notion of the previous history of the 2nd oldest cup competition in the world! it would appear that only league 1 and 2, and non-league teams take the competition seriously. sad. in fact, to my mind, the premier league's reputation is based on the few games where the big 6 play each other (i mean, watford v stoke? bournemouth v brighton? ain't gonna set the heather on fire, are they?

I got to see plenty of games over the holiday period including last Thursday's, about which you're probably a lot happier than I am.

Tech - I can't see much difference between the Premier League and any other top European league. You could argue we are lucky to have a top six, most have between 1 and 3 teams who could expect to challenge for the top spot. The difference between the top 6 and the rest of the league in terms of quality, points and goal difference does seem to be widening. However has there ever been a time when matches between teams, other than those challenging for the title, were of interest to anyone beyond supporters of the clubs involved?
