Kirsten (kmcripn) In my library, when you request an ILL, it goes to the same people that choose what to purchase for the library. It it's cheap enough OR if it's less than 5 years old, they just purchase it. There's also a $2 fee for interlibrary loans. But I don't think that's too much.

message 52: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale No charge for ILL here in Belleville, Kirsten.

message 53: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Interesting Kirsten. If it's a new book ( a year) they want to consider buying it, and often do. Pretty sweet for me. There's no cost for ILL loans here either, but $2 isn't bad. I don't keep books anyway. I volunteer at my library so that makes it easier for my guilt to request books :)

Amber Martingale Well, like I said earlier, Perri, I was more afraid of being laughed at over the title of the book about sex advice. I'd be equally afraid of being laughed at for this one: 50 Ways to Eat Cock: Healthy Chicken Recipes with Balls ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... ), which I just added to my TBR today.

I have a hard time picturing you embarrassed about anything Amber. Are you not a warrior!?!

message 56: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Warrior or not, I get embarrassed just as easily as a non-warrior.

message 57: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments lol! I don't blame you for those two

message 58: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Thanks, Dana.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I finished my second book of the tie I had in November, Under Dark Waters. It happens to be an outstanding travelogue of British Columbia as well as an interesting mystery. A poet, Else Seel (which happens to be a true story), is a subject of one of the mysteries. She left Berlin suddenly to marry a Canadian trapper who advertised in a local paper. The second mystery is the death of the protagonist's husband who crashed his plane in the Canadian wilderness during a nasty storm.

Cool! I wasn't aware it that. I added the original title to the book and it's more likely my library will be willing to buy it :-)

Amber Martingale Thank you, Ann.

message 65: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Thanks Ann, is there an equivalent in UK? I know Canada celebrates in October

message 66: by Amber (last edited Nov 22, 2017 02:50PM) (new)

Amber Martingale I don't think so, Perri.

Perri, Amber is right on that one - there's no other equivalent in the UK.

Patricia - that sounds yum.

message 69: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments So jealous - I wish Thanksgiving was this weekend here. Sounds yummy Patricia! I might still take advantage of some black friday deals though ;)

Perri | -43 comments Like a day of gratitude?

message 71: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I hope you all have a great day no matter where you are or what you are celebrating (or not celebrating).

I am about to start making pies to take to my Moms's house. Mmmmm pie... :)

I also have been reading my November pick All The Pretty Girls and it is great! Looks like I have another series to add to my list.

message 72: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale They might have something along those lines, Perri, but I don't think they call it "Thanksgiving."

message 73: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Grrrrrr my internet connection at home is broken and the app is even worse than I remember. I have no idea when I'll be online again :-(

Dana, I hope I've seen it correctly and there's a tie between Little Women & P&P so in this case my vote goes to P&P - I read this book at least 3 times and loved it. Even if it's my second favorite by Austen I can fully recommend it. In case my vote leads to another tie feel free to change it to the other one - I want to read this one as well :-)

message 74: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Just finished a PIFM book from June or July One Good Dog by Susan Wilson Liked very much
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Vicki Willis @Perri can't wait to hear what you think of it. I kept thinking about it after I finished.
