If you're prepared to host it Jim, then go for it...sounds like a goer to me!

Could you add your name to your theme, please, so I can keep track of who nom'd what! :)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Sorry Everyone ... I've decided that I'm going to take my Cake themed suggestion out as, having had a look around, there doesn't seem to be all that much to choose from - and I'm also very conscious too of the fact that I don't always manage to keep up with these Threads or to be able to contribute to other people's and so it feels rather unfair of me to offer up any ideas of my own.

So the updated list is ...

Remaining R9 theme noms:

179. 'Say I'm Your No.1' - your favourite song which topped the nation's (BBC, of course) charts. simple as.......- tech
180. Tell me sweet little lies. Liars, lying in the title or lyrics - Jemma
181. Songs with U.S. towns or cities in the title - TheFoe
182. Songs whose lyrics mention other musicians by name - KJS
183. Title refers to a crime. - SussexWelsh
184. Wildcard Round 5 - Any song you like, specifically new or seldom heard songs (originally an idea by Val)

New R10 Themes nominations:

186. A track that fits YOUR definition of pure, aesthetic beauty - Val
187. 'Groovy Grocer!' Song titles with a fruit &/or veg in them - theDuke
188. The last word: Final tracks from albums (original album final tracks, no bonus tracks from re-releases, please), however, 'hidden' tracks at the end of original albums are allowed along with the 'official' last track.

Helen The Melon | 3419 comments Hmmm, I was thinking of tracks featuring drum machines for my next theme, but after my fairly unpopular "samples" round I think I'll give it a miss! I'll see what else I can think of....

Bugger! I had a nom lined up for that one! I usually have to rush around to find something on the week a theme goes live, cos I keep forgetting to do it before! You could just tweak it Suzy, maybe opened it up to allow, cakes, puds, desserts and whatever else there is....ye?

message 106: by theDuke (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments Don forget folks....ALL of the older themes run before can now be renom'd again, as many of them have plenty of life in them for another round or rounds! You don't need to come with a new idea if you don't want to.

I'm disappointed Suzy. I had a shortlist of four tracks that qualified for your theme! I like it when we have to do a bit of work to find something appropriate.

theDuke | 6491 comments suzysunshine7 wrote: "No, it just wouldn't be fair, Duke - and so I'd rather not."

Just seen your response Suzy.

It's your choice of course..but I can assure you Suzy, that no one will think any less of you, should you not be able to participate on your own nom...it really makes no difference..as the rest of us will still play it out regardless. So, if I may..since I and couple of others have already found a nom for your theme..i'd like to reinstate it on your behalf Suzy...& we can leave your name off it, if you prefer..so you don't feel pressured into partaking. Your theme is most welcome, as is you, whenever you wish to join in, my darling! Nobody is forced to play..some come and go as they please, & everybody accepts that as a given, as we all know..real life takes precedence over everything else and this is just a little music game after all!

Many of us have health issues that gets in way of enjoying life sometimes...I have my problems as you have and so do a few others. So there's absolutely no need to feel awkward or guilty, if you can't join in sometimes...I promise you..no one will mind, honestly! :-)

So just to bring forward...I shall leave Suzy's name off this theme for the time being...

Should be plenty of choice for this one. I would still like to do non album singles as a theme but I think it would get super complicated!

Although I remember reading about an album many years ago called "Gorillas in the Mix" that sounds like it might have been interesting. Always meant to look it up.

With your theme Brass, could you have Duran Duran for sake of arguement? Not that I plan to nominate anything by them. Also really struggling with Jemma's theme, I've done a thorough research and come up with squat. :-(

Well, perhaps you wouldn't ban conventional instruments entirely, but they'd have to be very much in a supporting role to stuff that isn't. :-) That would include samples from records, so eg, any DJ Shadow track made up entirely from samples would be eligible. Same with a group like Sleaford Mods, whose music is created on a laptop.

Val asked the same question - The artist(s) must be namechecked in the lyrics e.g. All The Young Dudes by Mott The Hoople names Beatles,Stones and T. Rex...Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin) by Scritti Politti actually names Aretha Franklin in the lyrics.

Maybe put the name at the top. It might get a bit messy with something like Creeque Alley by The Mamas & the Papas if the named musicians are put in brackets after the nominated track on the actual list.

Beatle,Stones,T. Rex
