LOL!!! ;o>

I remember seeing a friend's Holiday Photos of the Royal Pavillion, the old Electric Railway, the Pier, the Dome, and interior of some of the Churches back when I was a teenager - and thinking that looks to be an interesting area full of rather different and unusual places to go visit.

Lez | 7490 comments It is 3rd of June. Forth Valley Royal Hospital has the heating on. It comes on at various times of day/night with loud bangs and metallic crashes. The thermostat appears to be set at bloody hot a lot of the time. The windows are open and 2 patients have switched fans on. The hospital is surrounded by wind turbines. I don't know where to start with the logic of all this.

Hello Lez, nice to hear from you...hope you'll be fully recovered soon.

But yes....this thing with heating in hospitals....i've never been in one that wasn't stifflingly overheated! I actually don't like my own house to warm myself...so only use the boiler for heating on the coldest days..the rest of the year..it's off and the windows are open!

I've only ever had 3 fairly quick procedures done in the past..all of them..i left the same day...even when i had an op done on me unmentionables!

My logic is..one recovers a lot quicker in the comfort and familarity of one's home! :)

Will you be needing to stay there much longer Lez?

I do agree, I gotta say that in this waaay over the top politically correct world, he's kinda like a breath of fresh air. Just a shame he's such a tw@, like the school bully who has no genuine friends, but plenty of folk pandering to him cos they fear him.... like we're gonna have to do when we crash outta Europe with no deal and we have to go cap-(and NHS)-in-hand to him.

Agree, if you didn't like the politics thread why bother reading it/contributing to it? I never contributed to that thread because to be honest I'm no expert on the subject and I'm crap at arguing, but Twoddlebungle's posts were never mean spirited, neither did he/she resort to personnal attacks. I'd rather see people expressing different opinions on here than listen to people bang on about what they had for dinner, (who cares?!), or resort to mindless toe curling wordplay on the games threads. Obviously I'm in the minority.

message 1640: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I'd like to know why so many Posts have to end up with yet another person having a go at ridiculing the Snail Thread or the Word Game Threads? I thought that this Forum was supposed to be inclusive of everyone who was exiled by the Amazon Forums which is why the Snail Thread and the Word Games were brought here?

I'm sorry for anyone of you who you feel this way, but I'm not sorry at all about creating the Snail Thread, or going to apologise to anyone either for keeping it going for all of this time.

If you all really felt this strongly about it then, like so many of you obviously still do now, then you should have been far more honest about it, exclusive on Membership, and specific at the time that we moved over to Goodreads and called this Forum the 'Amazon Music Forum Exiles' instead ;o<

TheFoe | 2638 comments "..I thought that this Forum was supposed to be inclusive of everyone who was exiled by the Amazon Forums.." Exactly Suzy, this forum was supposed to be for everyone. My point is, why allow a politics thread, which is always going to have heated discussions, only to shut it down for no apparent reason. Gordon used the word "toxic", but toxic for who? If it was because he thought Twoddlebungle was being ganged up on, then that's up to Twoddlebungle to say so, and being as this forum is frequented by decent folk, they would have stopped anyway.
We were told there was going to be 3 days suspension of the politics thread, to see if anyone objected, but because the thread was frozen, we were unable to add any posts either for or against.

message 1643: by Gordon (new)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Sorry, Foe. I think you & I have different ideas about what we want this forum to be.

There are lots of places on the internet where you can go to read robust expressions of opinion and either join in or observe lexical punch-ups. Indeed, I frequent a few myself. I don't really see why this needs to be one of them. Personally, I spend time in different forums depending on what I'm in the mood for.

While I don't patrol every thread on the forum, as the moderator I have a responsibility to look out for abuse, bullying, inflammatory posts, etc. I've never seen any, but as soon as someone sets up a politics thread - which, I will point out, I had previously said I didn't want - it's obvious that's a place that needs to be watched. I therefore couldn't really avoid reading the posts there and I'm afraid I have a limited amount of patience with people posting uninformed opinions and name-calling. I had to warn one member about posts in that thread and, to be honest, I was probably on the verge of having to warn myself because I was getting angry.

If people want to engage in that kind of slanging (I'm afraid it doesn't qualify as debate), I'd recommend the below-the-line sections of the Guardian web site, which is free and has any number of tinfoil-hat-wearers, Rees-Moggites, virtue-signallers and Corbyn-worshippers flinging excrement at each other without quite straying into the uttterly psychotic world of the MailOnline comments pages. I would really prefer not to have it in what was actually intended to be a fairly calm forum. Nobody is locked in to this place: everyone is free to prowl around as many other forums as they like and spread as much of their chosen body fluid as they like there. Like an elderly lady's cat, though, they may reasonably be expected to leave their bird-killing and scent-spraying outside.

message 1644: by TheFoe (new)

TheFoe | 2638 comments Fair enough Gordon, I didn't read the politics forum to view a slanging match, (even though it did descend into that sometimes), I just like to know other people's opinions, especially if it's something that they feel passionate about,. It's nice to have a balanced view and a difference of opinion in a subject that holds a lot of interest at the present. I'm not trying to be a trouble maker but I do think you should reconsider the removal of the politics thread, (it won't always be a discussion about Brexit). That said the majority on here seem pleased to see the back of it, so maybe just leave it.
