suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ahhh? - I must try that out ;o>

By the way, will one of you kindly please give my love to Ron the next time that you see him? I often wonder how he and Gwen are these days? - and I miss his Good Mornings and Goodnights ;o>

message 1102: by [deleted user] (new)

Unfortunately, Ron didn't come across to DND either, and we all miss him, something that was much talked about at the time.

message 1103: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ohhh, poor Ron ;o<

And I bet he really misses us too. Well, we certainly did our very best to get him to come over before the Amazon Forums were shut-down forever - and I don't honestly think that we could have done anymore than we did.

Duke said months ago that he hadn't turned up yet - but you live in hope that lovely vulnerable folk like Ron don't get left behind. If only he had taken us up on our Email Addresses or offered us one to contact him then this surely would never have happened ;o<

nocheese | 6824 comments Facebook has today changed its 'notifications' icon from a globe to a Goodreads-style bell. What can this mean?

message 1105: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I just took a look - and yep! - mine has changed as well.

Oddly though, considering it has just happened to the both of us at the same time, a search on Google suggests that this sudden change of Icon has been happening to other Facebook accounts for at least year now?

message 1106: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments That is weird. So maybe just because Mark hasn't been in touch to let me know that Cambridge Analytica hacked my account, it doesn't mean he won't still be doing so? :)

message 1107: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I think that Mark might possibly be a bit busy for a little while longer ;o>

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments Just checked, mine hasn't changed. I'm feeling left out now :(

message 1109: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Awww, don't be blue, Gingerlily? ... x

I'm feeling rather jealous of you now - as it looks awful and I want my Globe back! ;o<

message 1110: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments I was just feeling a bit nostalgic for the dear old globe myself :)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments Here's a globe for you - just paste it onto your news feed ;)

message 1112: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments HA HA HA!!! - I wouldn't even begin to know how?! - LOL! ;o>

I only ever use Facebook to look at and keep up with other Facebook pages - and so that I can post up Reviews or get to privately message folk if I find it to be necessary to do it in that way.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments Step 1. print out the picture,
Step 2. Carefully cut it out.
step 3. Glue it onto your computer screen.

Voila!!

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ahhh? ... (*thinks* ... exactly what kind of a fruitcake does this Girl take me for?) ... (*thinks again* ... I mean, just how long has she known me now?) ... (*thinks some more* ... she has known me quite a while now and she does know me rather well?) ...

... (*gives up thinking*) ... (*goes to get Scissors and Pritt Stick out of the Kitchen Drawer*) ... !

nocheese | 6824 comments I see we exiles are still having a hard time. Is that from the Elgin Marbles, Gordon, or some other frieze?

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments nocheese wrote: "I see we exiles are still having a hard time. Is that from the Elgin Marbles, Gordon, or some other frieze?"

I think this frieze was looted from the mausoleum of Halicarnassus by the Hospitallers when they occupied Rhodes (15th-16th century), so a bit before Lord Elgin's time.

Lost and Found:

Now we're into the nicer, warmer (?) weather, I decided that it was time to lose my winter coat. So, out came the clippers and Mrs Grizzly has scalped me and the beard has gone too.
Having lost a heck of a lot of hair, what is it that I've found?

Well, lurking underneath the beard was a well hidden second chin! :)

Got this email today:

“Let’s start with some fantastic news! The ban on wild animals in circuses came into force last week. The Wild Animals in Travelling Circuses (Scotland) Act 2018 makes Scotland the first country in the UK to introduce such a ban. We’d just like to say a huge thank you to OneKind supporters like yourself for helping us make it happen. Get the backstory on the circus ban here.

New research shows public support mountain hare action

Did you know that 83% of the Scottish public support action on mountain hare culls? Last month, we published results of polling of attitudes towards mountain hare culling in Scotland with our friends at the League Against Cruel Sports. The polling also showed that both urban and rural constituencies support total protection and regulation. We’re thrilled to have more evidence which shows the public want action, and we’ll keep you updated as the campaign progresses. Read the blog 'three facts that show overwhelming support for action on mountain hare culls' here.

10,000 sign our mountain hare cull open letter!

We're just a few signatures away (24 to be exact) from reaching 10,000 signatures on our open letter to the Scottish Government calling for urgent action to be taken to protect Scotland’s mountain hares in time for the start of the open season on the 1st of August. We’ll be handing it in very soon, so if you haven’t added your name yet then please do so now. You can also share the letter with your friends and encourage them to sign it too!”

Helen The Melon | 3422 comments Is it just me or is it the same for everyone else? The individual forum member profiles seem to have changed slightly. We now have the circular "dodgy dinner plate" pictures that we had on Amazon in the end.

Helen The Melon wrote: "Is it just me or is it the same from everyone else? The individual forum memeber profiles seem to have changed slightly. We now have the circular "dodgy dinner plate" pictures that we had on Amazon..."

Yep, just clicked on a couple of members profiles and their pictures are coming up round, including my own. When I clicked onto 'more photos' on my profile, the pictures there were rectangular.

message 1129: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I couldn't quite follow what you meant, Helen, as the box pics on here are square? - so I clicked on my Profile and yes, my main Profile picture is also a circle now and it definitely wasn't one yesterday.

Yeh, that's what I mean, Suzy. They are only circular when you look at a particular individual profile, and it's only the main profile picture...so far! I couldn't remember if they had always been like that. I hope they don't start faffing around with these forums like they did on amazon. 😞

message 1131: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Yeah, I feel the same way. I really didn't find it to be easy settling in on here after being on Amazon - but I've almost got myself to liking being on here now and so the last thing that I want is for the Forum Layouts and Formats to suddenly start changing and re-arranging themselves all around us! ;oO

message 1132: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Like Grizzly says though, the other pictures we can put up are still showing as rectangular in shape - so I don't get why they felt the need to mess around with the shape of the Profile one? - LOL! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Nobody tell poor Duke! ;oO

The poor love actually posted earlier on the Lists Thread that he wanted to get more active and to lose some weight?! ... and now Goodreads have just gone and rounded his Profile pic! ... and he looks like he has put on at least a stone around his middle since Breakfast time?! ... HA HA HA!!! ;o>

message 1134: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments yes, the new circular format put my picture off-centre and out of focus, so i had to change it to a different picture of my favourite handsome guy!

Val H. | 22146 comments That egg is just perfect. Only problem is it's making me hungry and tea is already sorted - lasagna and warm tomato salad. Maybe tomorrow's breakfast - with a few soldiers of course.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Mmmm, a lusciously oozing yellow Yolk of a Boiled Egg with a light sprinkle of freshly ground Black Pepper and some crispy crunchy lightly buttered toasted Bread Soldiers to dip in? ... Yummy!!! ;o>

I hope that you managed to save me a little bit of that delicious Lasagne, Val? - one of my most favourite meals just has to be Lasagne & Chips ;o>

Yes please! I’ve had enough of food pics pervading the threads.
Sorry :-(

message 1147: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments i really think, in the interests of combatting nausea, and without offending those who are food intolerant, the answer would be to replace the boaky biled egg with a picture of me!
