Yeah...I imagine one could do a dozen of them in a trouser press!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments Wouldn't you break your teeth on the trouser press, and it's quite difficult to digest.

message 553: by P (new)

P Cobb | 580 comments Surely the trousers themselves would be undigestible - but would offer great 'roughage'.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I get rivets stuck in my back teeth.

Yes I'm sure. According to the ADA (American Denim Association) it's very important to maintain good dental hyjeans.

Just make sure it's waxed. There's nothing worse than hairy dental floss.

Musicsavedmylife | 12 comments Of course, one doesn't need a Trouser Press if one has GHD's (Hair straighteners). Just heat and clamp the clothing (or curtains whilst they are hanging).
Simples. :-))

message 565: by Gordon (new)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Tech, you know when Susan Boyle's record company thought it would be a good idea to create a web site to promote her first album? And you know when they decided that "Susan album party" would be a good name? And you know when this meant the site's URL was susanalbumparty.com? How excited were you?

theDuke | 6492 comments Hi Gordon.

Just wondering if you are able to delete threads that have 'expired', at all?

I only ask as the voting threads section, is becoming rather crowded, making it more time consuming to find certain threads. I don't if other folks will agree with me, but I can't see the point of keeping the dead nom/voting ones once played out.

Also, I've noticed that there are two threads with the same FA nominations listed, Tim's and Spacepig's which are duplicated. One could be deleted, perhaps keep Spacepig's..as he is the thread's current host.

And just out of curiosity, how many threads at any one time, can be created on a Goodreads account? Unlike Zon...which after a while the olders ones slip off the bottom of the most recent page....on here they appear to just 'pile up all on one page.

Is it possible to refine it, so it's less...'busy'? It can be a tad tricky for me to pick out the threads I wish to enter, with my limited vision.

Just wondering! :)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments theDuke wrote: "Just wondering..."

Hi Duke.

I can delete threads (I deleted the Deals forum one, for example) but I'm a bit reluctant to do this in case there is content that someone wants to recover later. For now I've changed the settings so that only the most recent 10 threads in each folder appear on the home page. If you want to see the rest you have to click on "Showing 10 of 12 topics". I can reduce this to six if people would like me to but I think this might be too few for some folders. Unfortunately I can's set different numbers for different folders.

People can let me know if threads need to be renamed and they can't get hold of the thread's creator.

Lez | 7490 comments I like things as they are, but I understand it’s not so easy for people like Duke with limited vision.

message 570: by theDuke (last edited Oct 21, 2017 05:09AM) (new)

theDuke | 6492 comments Ah okay, thanks for that..yeah 10 would be okay. So it's is similar to Zon then...that's cool. I had wondered if folks may wish to go back to an old thread, as I used to on Zon....so if it's a similar pages system like Zon then that's fine. I still think one of the two FA nominations threads could be got rid off..as both contain the exact same information..Spacey's is tidier, imo, but perhaps ask Tim first, just to see if he's happy for that be done.

theDuke | 6492 comments Yes, Suzy has been quiet, but it is not uncommon of her to 'disappear' for a time. Despite her condition, she keeps herself busy; I suspect she's probably over at her friend's place. I recall she does sometimes have difficulty getting internet connection when over at her mate's.

And good morning Q..i didn't realise you'd joined this group too! :)

Hi Honey! - I'm home! ... x x x ;o>

I've just been taking a little time out to have a few calmer quieter days after spending far too much time online during the exile from Amazon. It was a very busy and quite exhausting time for me trying to keep up with everyone and with all of the Threads, as well as trying to get to grips with the Goodreads site, and it all ended up wearing me out - LOL! ;o>

I still miss the Amazon Forums terribly - is it only me that feels so very odd logging onto Amazon now to do some shopping? It feels like such an empty and rather singular and lonely experience now - almost like I am the only one on there and that over half of the site has now gone missing without so much as a trace? I keep on wanting to go find all my Forum friends and to check out all of the Threads across the Forums.

Still, bar a small handful, I am so very thankful that almost all of my wonderful friends made it over here to Goodreads - and will always be eternally grateful to our lovely Gordon for putting so much time and effort into creating such a fantastic Forum for us all ;o>

Bless you, Poppet ;o>

I'm still here at M&Ds - and my condition does completely take over my days sometimes, keeping me far too busy and then too exhausted afterwards to do much else. I could definitely do with some Respite Care from myself at the moment - HA HA HA!!! - LOL! ;o>

Duke's doing the Snack Run today ... what's everyone else having?

Bleeuucchh! I've never quite worked out what the point of marshmallows is supposed to be. I guess they could be used as an adhesive in construction - much like sticky rice flour was used to hold together the great wall of China - but I can't understand why people pollute hot chocolate with them.

I always used to order a plain Hot Chocolate as I can't abide any Cream except when served up as part of an Afternoon Cream Tea. However, I was given a small handful of Marshmallows with my Hot Chocolate a few months back and so I tried them out as an experiment and found that I quite liked the extra creamy and foamy top that they gave to my Hot Chocolate ;o>

I have both the little miss Ds with me this weekend and much of next week, so I had to do a big supermarket shop this morning. I was so preoccupied with having proper food in the house for a change that I forgot to buy coffee. I'm now trotting off to Asda to get coffee (and lightbulbs, which I also forgot); I'll have a cup of that when I get back.

Ohhh poor Ron? - I tried so hard to get him to join up to Goodreads but I don't think that he ever really got just what shutting the Amazon Forums down was actually going to mean? If he 'bookmarked' those Links that we all kept on giving him then he will have nothing to refer to. I hope he will still manage to find his way onto Goodreads and tries looking for us. I left him an Email Address as well but have not heard from him yet so he may not have made a note of that either ;o<

If any of you like Hot Chocolate then Asda's Smart Price Hot Chocolate is very nice. I tend to make mine up with hot Milk instead of hot Water - but either way works well ;o>

EDIT : Ahhh, I'm thinking it could be a Kebab? - but the Purple Tin still has me puddled?

I'd guess a purple tin is a can of Tennent's toxic brew. Don't know about the other thing.

message 598: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments a scotch morning roll, containing a slice of square sausage, swimming in a sea of bu''ur, and sometimes accompanied by a fried tattie scone, with the beverage of tennent's superlager (the jakey's choice!) - ocht the shop'll be shut by noo!

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments You're sure about the bu''ur, are you? It's not supermarket margarine? Or industrial lubricant?

So it's essentially a sausage & egg McMuffin meal but without the cheese? Or the egg? And with lager instead of coffee? A traditional Ayrshire breakfast for any time of day?
