I did see the Politics Forum, but it's really really not a good idea for me to visit them for the next 3 years, since I am no longer capable of having a civil conversation about He Who Shall Not Be Named.

*I've missed you too! I was hoping you popped in before Amazongeddon, but our time zones must have crossed.
So, tell me what this forum is all about.

So far we don't have any loose lipped conservatives that would bring that out. In fact we might not have any actual Trump supporters there right now. So it's more anti-Trump than anything. Almost like a group therapy session for Trump haters. It's also moderated, so you wouldn't have the phallic attitude of The Trumpsters, like Amazon had.

This forum is a bunch of people from the Amazon UK Music Forums plus some other friends who were pulled from the wreckage. They are a pretty nice group and I think you would like it here Misc. Particularly Suzysunshine. She's your kind of girl !

lol! I'll have to think about it.

Question: What does it mean 'Add to my Update Feed?'
There's a bunch of different options for getting notifications. An update feed is one of them. I can't remember exactly, I set those several years ago.
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "There's a bunch of different options for getting notifications. An update feed is one of them. ' I've never let a little thing like having no idea what I'm doing stop me. 'A great motto and one I've used renovating my house. What's the worst thing that can happen? It falls down? You learn something and build it up again.

Whatever it is? ... it wasn't me, I wasn't there, and you can't prove I did it either! - LOL!!! ;o>

I'm worried about the large Leylandii that's just 10 feet from from my garage/cabin. As it's in an exposed part of my driveway...it beginning to sway rather scarily....if that comes down, it could fall right across the main road or land directly on my garage, & that'll be the end of my man cave project. We're waiting to hear from the council with a view to actually getting it removed, plus a couple of other big trees...but they're right by the main carriageway.....so we'll need assistance from the highways authority.
Here's hoping it survives the night.
Is there no way of roping it to something else - another Tree, a Fence Post or put a Stake in and attaching it to that? It might just stop it from completely coming crashing down in one go or the wrong way?Another way might be, if you feel brave enough to try it and you have an Axe or a Chainsaw handy, is to take a small wedge out near the Base so that it is more likely to fall in the direction that you would much rather that it came down in?
I'm in Dublin, and its a bit windy out there, but I have seen worse, and at least its not raining. Pretty glad I can stay indoors though!
Sad to hear of the passing of Sean Hughes at only 51. Legend from Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Not Ireland's best day so far :(

No age is it.
suzysunshine7 wrote: "Is there no way of roping it to something else - another Tree, a Fence Post or put a Stake in and attaching it to that? It's one saving grace is that it has a perimeter fence immediately to one side of the trunk, and there is another smaller Laylandii right next to it, albeit somewhat overshadowed by the bigger one. It might be enough to hold it. But there are two other trees, still with leaves on...and they are going mental at the moment...and there's nothing I can do to secure them as they are not on my land.

Really? He didn't strike me/look like a heavy drinker. What a waste
Well I don't know if that is the case Serial...but with my limited intellect, I presume drink is usually the main cause of cirrhosis...perhaps someone can correct me on that.

He was always very open about his problems with Alcohol and also Drugs as well but I thought he had managed to stay sober for the last couple of years. He had said he had ruined his Health and so maybe, sadly, far too much damage had already been done? ;o<
theDuke wrote: "Well I don't know if that is the case Serial...but with limited intellect, I presume drink is usually the main cause of cirrhosis...perhaps someone can correct me on that."There are other causes of developing Cirrhosis such as having Hepatitis B or C, Duke.
You'd never known that from his TV appearances, I didn't know anything about his private life...did like his comedy style...always thought he was a sharp witted comedian.Didn't know that Suzy.....but you would of course, having been a nurse.
Cirrhosis can result from any chronic liver damage, whether from abuse of alcohol/other drugs, other causes of hepatic fat accumulation (could be dietary: doesn't seem very likely for someone the shape of Sean Hughes) or viral/bacterial hepatitis.
Anybody in Sussex (the county...not SW!)? Just heard on the news of reports that the sky there is pitch black from all the smoke being brought up from the fires in Portugal! Strewth!
theDuke wrote: "Anybody in Sussex (the county...not SW!)? Just heard on the news of reports that the sky there is pitch black from all the smoke being brought up from the fires in Portugal! Strewth!"The sky in Staffordshire has been various shades of yellow and pink through the day. Lots of people have been taking photographs of the Sun as it has rings around it. There are huge clouds of dust blowing up from the building sites around the building I work in.
The Winds are really starting to get going here in Stockport but they still feel lovely and warm to stand outside in. I've just helped M&D move some of the Plant Troughs to far more sheltered areas of the Patio so they don't get blown over during the Night.
Down here in Northamptonshire earlier on this afternoon the sky was a tinge of muddy brown and very cloudy with an occasional glimpse of the sun but looked more like a large orange street lamp. By four o'clock sunshine and blue skies again however the wind has been getting stronger.
Very sad to hear of the death of Sean Hughes. Another premature death reported today was that of Iain Shedden (b. Wishaw), drummer with The Saints from 1981 onwards and one of our leading music writers. The tributes from leading musicians tell how highly regarded he was.http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/...
Suzysunshine7 a longtime lurker here. Thanks for your efforts to let people know about this site. Got your last message on the mornington crescent thread and then it was all gone.
Hello Lesley ... x x xI'm so very glad that you saw my Post and decided to come and join us. This Group Forum was set up as a sanctuary for all of the friendly folk off the Amazon Music Forums (by our wonderful friend as well as Moderator, Gordon) - with an open and very welcome invitation to anyone else on the Amazon Forums who was also in need of somewhere to be able to continue with their own Forum's Threads ;o>
As well as all of the Music Threads that have been transferred over, we also have a very active Games Section that includes the NES (Neverending Story) Game that originally started off many years ago on the Kindle Forum before spending a couple of years in residence on the Beer Forum, of all places!
And we also have a lovely group of friends that came over in search of a place to be able to continue their 'Don't Kill Snails With Salt' Thread that used to post for many years on a Harry Potter Forum on Amazon as well.
Please wander at will and make yourself feel at Home on here - and I hope that you will find plenty of Threads to interest and entertain you ;o>

It's a lonely road for the committed alcoholic.
I used to like 'Successful Cooking With A Trouser Press', forum.Sadly due to a series of electrical and maiming hiccups, the numbers of participants dwindled.
It was good while it lasted.
it was such a pity that eminent poster Mungo McGowk had perfected the art of frying an egg on the trouser press, but unfortunately omitted to remove the trousers first...............or his leg! now posts as Stumpy McGowk!
Tech wrote: "it was such a pity that eminent poster Mungo McGowk had perfected the art of frying an egg on the trouser press, but unfortunately omitted to remove the trousers first...............or his leg! now..."That is a sad turn of events, he was also a whiz with the beef strogonoff, the skill involved with a spachelor to keep the sauce from running off the edges, was a thing of magic.
especially amazing as he always chose to keep the trouser press vertical! he could have had his own cooking show on t.v., but Broadmoor wouldn't allow the camera crew in!
Handybird wrote: "Excellent for the likes of ham and cheese toasties."In the more professional circles of trouser press cookery, 'toasties' are frowned upon as the domain of the unadventurous and unskilled.

.....and his soup was nothing but a miracle! of course he had to have his other foot removed due to excessive scalding - even his Primark slipper couldn't prevent the flesh peeling burns!
