Do you think the language of this book is too gritty? Could it be written any other way?

Our book club will be discussing this Heather O'Neill book in October. Several members have already expressed that they didn't enjoy the language and have not finished reading it.

It is my opinion that the language is so perfectly descriptive - and accurate, and it could not be written any other way without becoming a shallow imitation of someone else's story.

As well, the similes and metaphors are SO much a part of the tale - I absolutely loved them, and am planning on compiling a list of them!
