How did her father's death shape her as a character?

Do you think she would have followed the same path if her father had lived?

Losing a parent is something that completely transforms a person, so she wouldn't have followed the exact same path. However, her father's debt would have caught up with them eventually, and put them into her current financial situation. Those kinds of situation often force children to grow up fast-- exactly like dealing with his death did. And she still would have been influenced by Tanaka. So I think she could have easily ended up doing extremely similar things, this time to keep her and her father afloat; however, she would have a parent to support and guide her, and a lot of her internal struggle would be easier.

In the case of Emika, it really had a profound effect on her. Her father was her support system and when he died, she had no one who could help her. I think it forced Emika have to do everything for on her own and to take more risks to be able to support herself.
