With that said though, from what I remember the characters were whiny and underdeveloped, you could never feel attached to anyone, and I recall putting it down and never wanting to pick it back up again. Not the best work of hers.
The RDI Carole Matthews' book I did enjoy was Welcome to the Real World :)
I remember that! I'm so glad you gave her another try.
Not looking very forward to reading this one now though....but, I'll give it a try. And since I just finished the other book I was reading, why not start his one?
I remember liking Welcome to the Real World too. But my favorites by far of hers are The Chocolate Lovers' Club and The Chocolate Lovers' Diet. :)

Well there's one of the differences between you and I. :) I refuse to re-read a book, LOL!
So far, it's ok. But I'm not very far into it. I'm reading the ebook version and it only gives me a percentage instead of page numbers. I saw that it has over 80 chapters though and I was like, "Holy crap!" I think I'm still in chapter one, if not, chapter two.
I do see your point about Alicia's character being whiny. She starts out the story being pissy and doesn't know why. :/

So far, I'm liking it. I can see where either Alicia or Ed could experience the "minor indiscretion." When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be about Alicia cheating. But I can definitely see the possibility of her husband doing it too, or instead. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
Kourtney - I know you're not a fan of stories that center around cheating, and you wouldn't think I would be either considering that it's happened to me more than once (and more times than I probably actually know), but I don't know, I guess I'm a sucker for other people's drama because I can get into them. The cheater and the cheatee regularly piss me off, but that's probably what the author was going after, right?

LOL, that's why I've slowly gotten rid of a lot of my books over the last few years. If I can't find it through the library, I keep it until I read it. But if I'm able to find it elsewhere for free, it gets posted on the swapping sites and put in garage sales. :)
Mutual cheating is not something I have dealt with or experienced in a personal way (as in knowing a couple that did it), but I wonder if it's more common than I'd think. To me, it seems rather unheard of.

*spolier alert*
Ok, so no mutual cheating thus far, physically anyway. At this point, only Ali has cheated pyhsically, and in my opinion, Ed (That's the husband's name, right? I'm reading three books right now, and pulling names out of my head may not be accurate) has sort of emotionally cheated. I feel like, if you're doing something with someone, or talking to someone in a certain way that you wouldn't want your spouse or significant other to know about, it's a form of cheating.
It's easy to not like this Orla woman that Ed works with. She comes off as kind of a really bitchy character. Christian on the other hand...well, I want to not like him because he's the one who kept pushing Ali to do things she shouldn't have been, but his character is so likable, even if he did bring, and sleep with, a chick home from the bar the night Ali got thrown out. For all intents and purposes, he's an ass, but he's got that stupid kid, making stupid decisions to learn from thing going on that makes me like him.

Just came upon a part where the youngest of their three children, that is only four years old, has told Ali that their dad has replaced her, and Ali is flipping out about it. This part bugs me because she has two other children that are older, she should know that kids can and will embellish things. Not to mention that they do not understand the dynamics of some adult relationships cannot be so clearly defined and put into a box with a neat bow on the top. There is no communication going on between Ali and Ed and it's irritating the crap out of me. Ok, rant over. :)

Finished it yesterday!
Interesting read, not the best Carole Matthews book that I've read, but still pretty ok. Had some twists that I didn't see coming.
Anyone else read this other than Kourtney? Would love some more opinions.

But if that was my first book of hers...do you see why I was skeptical of reading anything else?!?!?

I do see, and it was unfortunate that this was the one you picked to read first. ;)
By all means, if you want to express your dislike, go for it. That's what this thread is here for. ;)
