So after thinking about why I said What I said, was in a chapter where someone was stuffing fries in their mouth and said Brothers and Par-Tay, that usually comes from the black men, and Homies and get down comes from Hispanic, The only time that I heard Brothers from white guys were either the Arian Nation/2-11, or Neo's,But this didn't deter me from the reading, it was very interesting.,,But what do I know right?...So as I want to say this is a great book to read, and happy finishing up...I want to thank Mr. Samuel for dropping by and giving us feedbacks.....MOD

Sky Train (I think that's who spoke those lines) was mocking the black gang by speaking like that.

Jim Crocker | 292 comments I added some special music to the BOTM. Check it out! Now before anyone says anything, I think this is really an anti-gun song. And Jimi Hendrix didn't write it. He just played it and blew it off the charts. But this version is not Jimi singing. Check it out! http://botm.blackdogebooks.com/

Jimmie | 302 comments For some reason my post from yesterday never made it from my keyboard to the message board. I must have failed to click the Post button. I finished this great book yesterday and posted my review on Goodreads. Wow, what an awesome book. This is one of my favorite books I have not only read this year, but one of my all time favorite books. This book was told from the point of view of the gang members as well as the victims. I felt I was sitting in a gang lair. I also felt like I was at the hospital with the victims' family. This book read like a screen play or a Dateline type of program, not a work of fiction. The characters were vivid and believable. I felt like I had a look in view of what is like in prison with the sounds and unpleasant images of prison life. Great job Stephanie (Mod) for picking another great book for the group to discuss. And thank you Samuel for taking the time to comment about your outstanding book.

Rhonda (kristismo-drrhonda) | 32 comments Hello all. It’s 5;17 am and I have just finished Chapter 3 but this is the reason I am writing. I put a movie on called “Cold in July” and the first 15 minutes was identical to the shooting scene. The couple was asleep wife heard a noise husband fumbling with bullets shooting not two but one suspect The suspect had flashlight thought he had a gun too. Child one not two was asleep in his bed when taking place.

This is s 2014 film with Sam Shepherd (late); Michael C Hall; Don Johnson etc. it is On Demand on Showtime until Jan 9. I have not read anymore and will stop the more for a couple of hrs of shut eye. But wanted to know from the author of the book and from the reader Did anyone else see the movie and how close they appeared in the beginning. Like I said I M only at the start of the film and Chapter 3 was just concluded of the book but they appeared a mirror image to me

NO, I haven't heard of this movie, and I am a movie buff. I am going to find this movie and watch it, seeing how I finished up the book. Thanks for the info Rhonda....

Last night this movie that Rhonda brought up came on the Showtime channel here. I watched it twice. I set the recorder first just incase I missed it or over=slept, but I didn't. This movie starts out exactly as this book, but within 20 minutes, it changes up, so I cannot tell you that this is exactly the same as the book, just the first 20 minutes of a 2 hour movie. The difference in the movie is that they had 1 small son, and Michael C.Hall, Sam Sheppard and Don Johnson was in this movie,,so let me say this, 1 son, the guy who shot the burglar was an owner of a frame company where you take your pictures to be framed. Then you have the reason why the burglar was shot, and it wasn't for loot that was hidden in the house, it was because of some Dixie Mafia in and around Texas area,,,So as far as the book being like the movie, I cannot agree, BUT will agree to the first 20 minutes, and let me say this before I go, Michael Hall shot the guy twice, but it was proven that the guy was shot by someone else while in the home. But read the book and catch the movie, you'll see. This movie was not an update movie, I want to say this movie is about 10/12 or more years old....

Janeandjerry (janeandjerryculwell) | 0 comments This was both a good movie even though it does not fully match with the book except for just a short trip in the very beginning but they are not the same and hope others can also watch this movie and read this book and enjoy them both...

Jimmie | 302 comments I enjoyed the movie as well as the book. The premise of the movie and book were close, but the plots were different. I hope that makes sense. It was good to see Michael C. Hall in a much different role.
