John Maygrove | 5 comments Hi,

So this seems a little seamy of me, joining a group and then immediately asking for a favour. I've been a goodreads member a while, but not really used it to its full potential. I've decided to change that.

Last week I released my second novel, a thriller/mystery/suspense about an apprentice private detective on the trail of a brutal serial killer. Its available for free on Amazon right now, and a few more reviews would really boost its profile!

Much appreciated.

Tom Gabbay (tomgabbay) Access Point

A nice review from Blue Ink is out today:

The murder of a young American art student in London provides the catalyst for Access Point, a compelling thriller with science fiction and mystery elements.

The victim, Mia Fraser, isn't alive for much of the story, having perished at the hand of an unseen assailant. Regardless, readers follow her through many of her experiences because after Mia's death, her memories were uploaded into the mind of Ula Mishkin, who had been renting a room to Mia.

Ula, who lost much of her own long-term memory after an accident that left her comatose for a year, hopes to figure out who killed Mia—at least at first. But the longer Ula dwells in Mia's memories, the more complex her relationship becomes with the dead woman who lives on in her mind.

At the same time, Mia's murder is being investigated by a police detective, Sarah Boyd, whose role through much of the book is to chase down red herrings until the requisite showdown with the story's true villain.
Access Point is a notable change of pace for author Tom Gabbay, who previously wrote a series of well-received spy thrillers published in hardcover by William Morrow. This book explores some interesting metaphysical concepts, such as following a character who actively responds to events around her, despite only existing in an artificial world created from her memories.

The story often plays with the reader's expectations of what's actually occurring—and from whose perspective—when Ula and/or Mia are front and center. That works for the most part, although the chronology remains a bit convoluted, and some key characters could have used more fleshing out.

Access Point is not a whodunit but a psychological thriller with compelling explorations of memory, obsession, and identity. Readers will find it an intriguing and entertaining read.

Hello everyone, I hope you are all keeping well. My debut crime novel, The Smart Woman’s Guide to Murder, is on pre order and will be released by Joffe Books on 6th May. I’m looking for reviews from people who love Golden Age crime books with a new updated edge. When a book group are snowed in at an isolated mansion, the murders begin. There is a dark humour and an acerbic tension that gives the book a 21st century take. The book is getting 5 star reviews and is available on Netgalley or you can message me directly. Have a lovely day, keep well and safe and I hope you enjoy the book or whatever wonderful crime book you’re reading. Thanks for reading, Victoria. X

Afflicted with dromophobia, the fear of crossing streets, 26-year-old Raphael Lennon must live out his life in the one square mile that surrounds his Los Angeles home. Fortunately, the area provides everything an artistically sensitive person needs, including a job at Norval, an oddball company that tracks and markets the online remains of the deceased. Raphael's specialty is unearthing "possums," people faking their deaths. His new assignment is Jason Klaes, an allegedly dead physicist who is perhaps creating afterlives for the Internet-era deceased based on their social media content. Raphael must break out of his phobic prison to solve the Klaes Case and thwart his company's entry into a chilling spin-off of its product,

TAKE ME HOME

How much would you risk for a child who isn't yours?

An ingenious, taut, global thriller for fans of Linwood Barclay and Harlan Coben...

When struggling journalist Harper returns a dress to the shop she bought it from that morning, she sees the same little girl sitting in the exact same place she saw her hours ago.

No one in the shop knows who the girl is.

No desperate parents have contacted mall security to say they've lost their daughter.

And the local police have no new reports of a missing child.

The girl says she misses her mother.

But why is nobody looking for her?

And what if finding her home is the worst thing you could do?

From the chilly streets of New York City to the electric blue skies of coastal Florida - this is an emotional, page-turning road trip that follows a trail of theories, all the way to a devastating revelation...

An ingenious thriller with a big hook and twists galore - for fans of Linwood Barclay's No Time For Goodbye and Harlan Coben's Tell No One.

I hope this interests some of you. Would love to hear your thoughts on the book!

Richard Jr. | 2 comments I am looking for reviews of my new novel, The Aftermath: A Connor Phelan Novel.

Connor Phelan had his dream job as a prosecutor. He was on top of the world until the sudden and tragic death of his wife and unborn child brought it crashing down.

He resigns almost immediately after the funeral and returns home to Rockfield, where he opens a small office of his own.

Soon, Connor is back in the thick of things and finds himself as special prosecutor of Bob Clancy, an infamous local man, who is accused of strangling a high school cheerleader.

After reviewing the case, Connor concludes that Clancy did break into the young girl’s house, but he is not her killer. Connor believes the actual murderer was a serial killer from twenty years earlier dubbed The Rockfield Strangler. And it doesn’t take long for DNA testing to confirm that the Rockfield Strangler is indeed back and has his eyes on his next victim.

But how do you catch a monster who has eluded the police for so long, especially when you are still grieving and trying to rebuild your life?

"The Aftermath is a fast read. It's a page-turner and you will be captivated by the memorable characters in this latest novel by Richard Cahill." - John Ferak - award-winning investigative journalist

The Aftermath a truly gripping psychological thriller which will appeal to fans of authors like James Patterson, Alex Michaelides and Mark Edwards.

I'm posting here on behalf of an author client of mine, hoping to spread the word about his latest series, and secure some honest reviews.

The Junior Minister by William Gilbert
The Junior Minister by William Gilbert

The story follows a bitter and twisted, unreliable, ex-merchant seaman, ex-cop who runs a private detective agency dealing with expatriates in Bangkok, with the help of his post-operative transsexual assistant Petunia.

The Junior Minister
Bangkok. A disgraced British politician has apparently died in the Crimson Ass, an S and M bar in Patpong. British detective Garnet and his transsexual, Thai assistant, Petunia, are asked by the British authorities to investigate. While dealing with their case, they are distracted by a woman-killer who has appeared on the scene and seems to have known Garnet.

About the Author
William Gilbert first experienced professional seafaring as a teenager on a tramp tanker out of sweltering Houston for a thrilling voyage through Panama to the Far East and then Saudi Arabia and the Mediterranean and back to the United States, fuelling at Gibraltar, and then crossing the Atlantic in a massive storm and threading through the oil rigs of the Mexican Gulf to the same berth at which he’d joined six months’ earlier; a trip described in his top seller, Supertanker Circumnavigation.

After qualifying as a third officer, he spent several years on cape-size bulk carriers, during the crisis period when one of this type of vessel was sinking every few weeks, due to a combination of wear and tear, poor design and poor loading practices.

Below is a short description.

When Danny Petrelski was growing up, he dreamed of being an astronaut. Handsome and athletic, it was no surprise when he married the most popular girl in school. He tried his hand at many jobs, construction, sales, he even worked as a private investigator. All were abject failures. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would achieve success as at hitman. But life does not always turn out as we plan.

In debt to a loan shark, he was given a choice. Kill or be killed. Between a rock and a hard place, Danny chose The Hard Place.

David Wolf | 6 comments Hello, crime fiction lovers. I'm not looking for reviews for my novel, A Murder Foretold. It hasn't been published yet. I'm looking for a few beta readers. Fresh eyeballs to help me see the forest, since I've been scraped raw by the trees. Here's a description.

Imagine a serial killer mystery that's not the usual gore-fest. Instead, it's an intricate puzzle that forces the killer to play detective. As it happens, he's well-suited for the role.

Charlie Novak, 44, is many things: war hero, senior investigator with the Insurance Crime Bureau, reluctant serial killer and a loner who’s about to fall in love for the first time in his life. The lucky object of his affections is Sydney Waters, a suspect in the murder of the person Charlie was scheduled to bump off at a later date--as part of a Black Widower scheme he and his partner have been profiting from for ten years. It seems Ms. Waters foretold this murder to her writing group six hours before she herself found the body. Her description of the crime scene was accurate enough to be an eye-witness account, except for the odd detail that it hadn’t happened yet. Charlie flies out to monitor the ensuing homicide investigation to make sure it doesn’t unravel all those earlier murders he and his partner have profited from. Sydney, a wannabe mystery writer, insists on helping the authorities solve the murder. The more this captivating woman speculates about possible killers, the closer she gets to the actual black widower scheme that Charlie (an expert at staging fatal accidents) and his partner (a serial marrier) have been perpetrating. Charlie sees only two ways to discourage this line of inquiry: find the real killer, or eliminate Sydney by arranging another fatal accident--that is, if his newly-tender heart will let him.

How did she so accurately foretell that murder, anyway?

Interested parties should reach out to me and let me know your preferred format: Word, EPUB or MOBI. Thanks!

Krissy Baccaro (kbaccaro) | 5 comments Hello fellow authors! My first mystery/suspense novel was just released in May! I'm looking for more reviews and would also be happy to help you with yours. It's called Buried Secrets (Ella Perri Mystery Series). Here is a brief synopsis:

A mysterious disappearance. A dark family secret. Can Ella expose the ugly truth before it’s too late?

Families have secrets. But some secrets can't be kept forever. They ooze through cracks a little at a time until a scandalous truth is fully revealed. Ella Perri knows it's this type of secret that's hidden in the family cottage.

In his last breath, Ella’s grandfather reveals to her a startling secret that hints at something sinister. On behalf of her beloved grandfather, she embarks on a dangerous quest for truth. A World War II diary and the 21st century collide as Ella desperately chases every clue in a faraway and unfamiliar setting where the real story begins. Who can be trusted and who has something to hide? One secret leads to another. Ella must decide: share the secrets and alter the fates of her loved ones forever or become part of the lie that’s been buried deep for decades.

Buried Secrets is a suspenseful mystery with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the shocking ending.
