محمد الملا (almullaonline) | 82 comments I got here huge number of books distributed between two Publishers (not an author)

1) Harvard Business Review
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

2) Harvard Business School Press
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

All books are mixed up between them like these two identical copy of the same book:
HBR'S 10 Must Reads: The Essentials
https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

That's a lot of work, a huge amount of work
- Harvard Business School Press: 411 distinct works
- Harvard Business Review: 178 distinct works
# Total: 589 works

+ Most of them is like a collections of articles written by more than one writer
+ Moving the "HBR's 10 must reads" books form Series to Listopia

What the right thing to do here ?

محمد الملا (almullaonline) | 82 comments This big project is till no where to start with

I will suggest that to combine the two accounts into one:
1) Harvard Business Review
2) Harvard Business School Press

So, the work will be in one place, Is that OK?

Regards
Mohammed

Empress (the_empress) Since you are not doing that project I would say don't combine the profiles yet. Also here is the topic where this was previously discussed.

This topic is the fruit of that topic and this post:

I'm currently inf process of reading some of these "HBR" books, it's such a big mess for me

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments And you can't just combine two profiles with a lot of followers each (and a lot of books and editions, because we're talking here about far more than 589 books).
There may be books in them which have to stay under the author name as it is in the moment - but that can only be decided if several librarians spending months on that task and going through all of these books and editions.

This is not a project for weeks, that's one for a lot of people for a lot of months or maybe even years (considering the fact that no one will work constantly on that)

If you're currently reading some of them, fine - go ahead and make the records of the edition you are reading correct (with all the assigned editions) - that's just one book at a time, but this is a project of small steps.
(while reading them you have probably the faster access to the author and editor name)

I Totally Agree that this is not a small project, What is missing is a road map to achieve such big projects, or for a while this project

Without a road map (a plan of actions), It is like not to do it at all, then why to bother to speak about it since beginning

I think, if there is a plan, things will go smother, faster, easier, What I am asking for is: A plan of actions

Is there any one who is responsible (or assign) for managing (or coordinating) such big projects ?

Dear Lachgas
What do you suggest to sort this project out ?

Mohammed

lethe | 16368 comments No, there is no project manager.

It seems to me since you reported this project, you could think of a plan of action. After all, you are a librarian too, right?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments No, there's no plan/manager or even a way to make it faster.
And yes, that is a project were you see not much light at the end of the tunnel for a long time.
I picked just one randomly in the last days to look if there are authors findable at all - they were via Look inside on Amazon. Which means it would have been a writing by hand task for about 10+ authors for the 4 editions.
(maybe copy&paste is possible on other records which would make it a bit easier)

What i would do is simple:
I would correct the books (and their editions) I am reading because I won't have to bother with the research of names then - and if I'm done with that I would either go on with some others (if in the mood) or just leave the rest as it is if I don't want to spend more time on it.
If I would go on I would probably go by years I think and if I would pick a year I'd mention that here so that others know it.

('m out for that project because I'm on even more neverending "initials" and "Mr" author names tasks - I'll probably never finish that but every sorted author counts)
