I've read 7 books so far. The most enjoyable were News of the World and A Gentleman in Moscow. The most thought provoking were The Humans and The Underground Railroad. I have another book club, so I have to divide my reading time between both lists.
As far as how I pick my books? Hmmm. I like to pick from the list of books that no one has read yet. I live in the hot humid South, so I love to read about snow, ice, anything cooler! (Alaska list) I love wolves, so I will pick a title that has wolf in it, or even a wolf on the cover. There have been many YA books that have been favorites, so I like the all ages group. The War that Saved My Life would have been a 4 star rating if I had been a YA.
My methods for picking books are pretty random, so I love that we have a wide variety to pick from. It has expanded my reading choices tremendously. Thanks!

As for picking books...I go through the list when it first comes out. I mark off any that I've already read, and star those that I've heard of and know I want to read. After that, I peruse the display shelves at the library and pick the ones that hit my mood at the time! Sometimes the FHL bookclub chooses one off the list, based on participant recommendation. I try to read at least one from each category each year! So, as we get toward the end of the year, I may try and specifically look for books that in categories I haven't explored yet. (This year, I'd have to say that I've read a few that don't seem to fit the category they were in. I'd find it interesting to know how those books were chosen for that spot.)
Thanks, Theresa, for putting this together each year! :-)

Just wondering how it's going out there in Lit Lineup land.... I've read or listened to ten books on the list so far and I'm trying to choose my next one. It's fun to look on here to see what you all have to say about the different titles.
As I'm planning for next year's lineup, I'd love to hear your ideas about categories. Do you have a favorite category from this year's list? What do you think about the "all ages" category? (So far there haven't been any children participating, but it seems like the books have been well-received by adults.)
I'm also curious to know how you choose your books. I listen a lot, so I tend to pick ones that are available on audio, which I know limits my choices.
"Ready Player One" was my most recent listen. It's not what I would normally read, but I ended up enjoying it a great deal. It's fun, not too deep, and it gave me a much needed break from some of the heavier stuff I tend to choose. Also, my son and husband loved the book and it's been fun to talk with them about it. The movie will be out soon and I'll be curious to see how it compares to the book.
Anyhow, I hope you're all enjoying the list!
