Cortez III Hey Psychological Thriller Members!

SERIAL RITES is a psychological thriller that tells the story of an unstable Atlanta Homicide Sergeant Malcolm Hobbs who leads his X-Men Detective Squad in a manhunt to apprehend the twisted mind and M.O. of a serial killer dubbed, The Profiler. If you were compelled by the Hannibal Lecter trilogy, Se7en, the Jeffery Deaver Lincoln Rhyme books and those thriller books like ADAM, THE BRIDE COLLECTOR and BONEMAN'S DAUGHTERS by Ted Dekker I got something for you.

The online retailers Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Kobo, iTunes, etc. has the ebook on pre-order sale for $0.99. It's book #3 in the X-Men Homicide Squad series after KREMLIN TIDE and COLD LICK. These books are available for $0.99 at Amazon and for FREE at Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Kobo and iTunes.

Ooooooh, I just caught this one after the swami comment! Man, I knew this group was tough, but...

Jim Crocker | 292 comments Cortez, already you are saying this group is tough. Listen, you got no idea about tough. We been through it all, and do we have stories. But right now we are all here for YOUR story. And you are the MOD!! Boy, have you been conned. HAHAHA! Bring your game face to this one.

I am on the wait list at Amazon Kindle for this one, and will start reading like crazy when it finally drops down to my Kindle. As with other BOTM months I will be adding this discussion to my BOTM website in a short while.

Cortez, you can check out what that's all about by going to www.botm.blackdogebooks.com to see what I have put together for past BOTMs. So any cool graphics or links you want to add, just let me know. This here is all about having fun and stirring up as much trouble as possible. (e.g., that's why Stephanie's moniker is BoomBoom! HAHAHA!) Glad you are down with us this month!

Cortez III Here are additional SERIAL RITES reviews ladies and gentlemen:

“I thoroughly enjoyed Serial Rites and it was a well written mystery that kept me seeking motive and suspects constantly. It was a wonderful picture of the investigative process and the officers who perform it. It shows the moral values and emotional ups & downs of their individual lives. Also brings out that a Christian ministry may involve some dark and dirty places.”
-Jess, Ellijay, GA

“This my first novel of Cortez Law’s to read & it kept me in suspense all the way through and I had a problem putting it down. I really like his style of writing...Cortez write another one soon.”
-Frances, Fairmont, GA

Uh-oh, guess I need to see that classic again!

message 37: by Chris (new)

Chris | 760 comments I can say this you really gotta read in blocks instead of a few pages at a time. I have to keep on rereading passages for this reason. Should start the book at beginning again because it feels to me that I missed something.

message 38: by Shirley (new)

Shirley Noffke | 13 comments First book ever after reading the dedication I wanted to read the book. I am only on chapter 3 , this is a very slow read for me, not one that I can speed read. Hate to say this but had to pull out the dictionary a few times.

message 39: by Jimmie (new)

Jimmie | 303 comments I found the following nugget of information about half way through Serial Rites: "Power plus Intelligence equals Vision". I really like that quote.

Shirley, I agree with you. I had to look up a few words myself. So far, I really like this book. I will add more messages when I have read the book.

message 40: by Janeandjerry (new)

Janeandjerry (janeandjerryculwell) | 0 comments I agree it is a book you have to read a section at a time and use the dictionary with. I'm pushing myself between company visiting and grandkids visiting that I hope I'm able to get it finished soon...(Thankfully we have a year on this am I right...lol)

message 41: by Chris (new)

Chris | 760 comments Man, I thought it was me. I am trying to read the book in chunks because I have to keep on rereading it.

I am going back and forth on this one. My brain is not catching on....

message 43: by Jimmie (new)

Jimmie | 303 comments Hang in there with this book. I just completed reading this book and posted my review on Goodreads. My advise to this group is to continue to read Serial Rites in chunks, but stick with it to the end. In my humble opinion, it is well work the investment in your time.

My next stop is to pop open a beer and reflect on this great book. I have not been moved with a novel like Serial Rites in a long time. There is definitely some reflecting you will need to do after reading this book, especially if you have dealt with the loss of a family member. Wow, great job on this book Cortez.

message 44: by Chris (new)

Chris | 760 comments stephanie wrote: "I am going back and forth on this one. My brain is not catching on...."

Thank you so much and I thought it was me. I kept on re-reading thinking I've missed something so I said the hell with it and I am reading it in chunks instead of a page here and there. Doesn't make total complete sense at the moment but some sense.

message 45: by Cortez (new)

Cortez III Hey Group:

For or against, I still appreciate all the varied feedback on Serial Rites. I'm guessing but some of the dictionary talk may refer to one of the detectives, which is her voice. Hit me up with a PM as not to spoil too much of the narrative with an open post and let me know exactly what it is that's causing you difficulty. I can at least think on it for a further edit. That's the beauty of independent publishing. Authors can still amend their books and re-publish it. Give it a chance for those who haven't and stay with it for those who've already started. Whichever side you fall on, thank you for the opportunity and especially to you, Stephanie!

message 46: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Matthews Goldshot | 40 comments I had to re-read several parts as well. At first I was getting frustrated, but about halfway thru the book, I was able to get into the groove of it w/out having to re-read. I'm about 75% thru and glad I stuck w/ it. Well worth the read.

message 47: by Chris (last edited Oct 23, 2017 06:59AM) (new)

Chris | 760 comments Well I'm still reading the book and it's not like pulling my teeth out. If I can stay focused on the book (I am reading other books) I will be able to finish by end of month.

message 48: by Jim (new)

Jim Crocker | 292 comments HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOD STEPHANIE! COME TO THE VIRTUAL BIRTHDAY PARTY RIGHT HERE==> http://botm.blackdogebooks.com/

message 49: by Chris (new)

Chris | 760 comments Almost finished with the book and as a few other people said I am glad I stuck with it because now it's starting to make sense.

message 50: by Chris (new)

Chris | 760 comments Okay Jimmie I finished the book a few days ago and I have to agree with you that the story wasn't bad. After it was explained how this serial killer was working it clicked. I am glad that I read it. Think I'm gonna have to do a reread maybe.
