MeowZhao | 11 comments Please delete duplicates:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
and
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

They have too much information missing or wrong, and they are combined with the wrong original book.
In fact, it is stated on the copyright page of the books that these two Chinese editions are two halves (micro- and macroeconomics) of translation of Principles of Economics, 5th edition, by N. Gregory Mankiw:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
and since they both have an independent ISBN and are published as a series called 经济学原理(第5版) (meaning "Principles of Economics, 5th edition"), they should be created as independent books instead of combined with Principles of Economics.

I've already created the correct ones:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Please add ISBN 9787301150900 to the second one (the red one), I couldn't add it because it's currently occupied by the wrong book above.
And please create a series 经济学原理(第5版) to link the two volumes.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments As mentioned before, we do not delete valid information from the database, instead we correct the entry instead of deleting it.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments And GR won't see a 5th edition as a series - because they could be combined with other languages or editions first half (if they exist) - yes GR has quite strict rules on series.

Eventually it's possible to combine in a general "principles of economics" series but I'm not 100% sure about that.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments the covers of the blue one are slightly different (one is a bit darker an one has some yellow square in the corner which the other hasn't) so I won't merge them.

I assume Mankiws name is written in chinese there too? we could add it in chinese as secondary author

I did separate them from the others because half books shouldn't be combined with full works (saw a librarian note on one of his books (I believe it was greek) for that and will look if it's the same - eventually that can be combined then)
Also added the translators and changed the language (that got imported that way a long time for all foreign languages until they stopped bots recently)
And add the description in chinese script.

I assume that part with 5 in () means 5th edition? then it shouldn't be in the title (because it's already in the edition field and doesn't belong into title field)

Please do not create duplicates for editions already in the database. It only makes things more confusing. Correcting existing editions is much less work than having to merge and then edit.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments the blue one is Microoconomics and the red makro?

Yes, Mankiw's Chinese name is 曼昆 on the books.
And yes, 第5版 means 5th edition. I didn't want to add it but then I checked the copyright page of the book and the title there is written as 经济学原理(第5版):微观经济学分册, that's why I kept the edition number in the title.

Sorry I didn't know other ways to provide all that information in Chinese so I simply created a new entry. Sorry 😂:

Yes!

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments I'm wondering if your chinese edition could be just another edition of that https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...
(there is a Principles of Macrooeconomics as well) but that's just a spontanous thought...

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments as the page count of macro differs (and worldcat doesn't offer one) were you aware of the GR rules for what is counted as pages? https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...
(because there are some things GR does not count which may explain the difference)

Well, on the copyright page of the Chinese books there is the name and the ISBN of Principles of Economics (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...), so I guess this is for sure? But it's true that all those Mankiw textbooks have super similar lists of contents no matter what their titles are, so I don't really know what's different between all them.

I have no idea where that "299 pages" comes from. Page 299 is nothing but a common content page in the book.
The last page of my book is numbered "363", which is also the last page of the index. And on the most popular Chinese website for books (douban.com) it also says 363.

MeowZhao | 11 comments Sorry to ask, but what does "sepr" stand for?

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments that was just a help for me to find the correct editions on the combine page (there are all books and editions listed with the title and format (and only that, no cover or language information) and that way I could just search for "sepr" to separate and combine the correct ones

that's (one part of) the greek edition I had in mind https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6... it also is principles of Economics splitted in two parts (that's not so uncommon in some languages) unfortunately I can't speak or read greek so I have no idea if they could be the same..

Aw, no need to cry :-)
It was just to let you know that in future, you can supply the information here in the group and a librarian can correct it for you.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Should be all set now (I hope) except the point of "combining with something else" due to language restrictions

No, but if this is a book separated into 2 parts, a series linking part 1 and part 2 would be ok.
