it's hard to find things on GR if you don't know where to look... sometimes I go up to the top corner and run a word search in a group to check all discussions, and end of digging through a dozen pages and it's still hit or miss...

The Order of the Knights Garter is an august and respectable establishment with a long and hallowed history...in turns ambitious, valourous, bloodthirsty and chivalrous, according to the meeds of the moment.

It is adorned by the highest peers in the realm of Fair Albion and fully worthy of the good Sir Finbar's sword/staff/flaming rod allegiance, oath and honour, I thought.

But somehow a creepy apostrophe appeared from nowhere transforming my noble intentions into the "Knight"s Garter"
Quite a different business entity + with a wholly different manifesto, it appears.
I think this must be an American import....😂😂😂

But let us not blame Sir Finbar. He used to be a chivalrous and honourable man, oathsworn to serve and protect and admirably did he acquit his nightly knightly charge. Chaste maidens sighed over his courtly manners and whole villages used to sleep easy knowing Sir Finbar was there.
"Nothing bad can happen," mothers told their children as they put them to sleep "while Sir Finbar patrols the ramparts...."
And all the time *snort* the rascal was sneaking up on interns with his flaming rod.

Look, for example, at this poor Shallan.
She, innocent thing, is burning the midnight oil and studying for her engineering exams (all about wet pumps and suctions, we heard) and never dreaming that behind the mask of the famous hero lurks a depraved animal...

But HOW did this happen to a good and honourable knight? How did the kindly Sir Finbar stray thus far from the chivalric codes so close to his heart?
