Lol, true. You disappeared for a while though and the posts for the book 2s were pretty quiet.
And it wasn't an autocorrect, it was a figure of speech ;-)

It's all Iain's fault...ensuring I miss all the good ones by scheduling them in December.
;-)))
Frankly, I haven't scheduled anything, yet, since joining FBR... other than being the first to pass along group consensus sometimes in adding later books in ongoing series buddy reads to the master list... I never suggest anything to read because I sign up for too many things other people start... I think I tried once early on (Arcanum Unbounded / Edgedancer) and got no responses because people were too busy in October/November...

True. Faulty grammar strikes again :-)

I am crushed and disappointed."
Since I'm atheist I'll agree that there is no god, man. lol ;-)
I wish I remembered how to insert pics. I would stick in FF's Odin, who is Thor's father in the myth, and also a summon deity, like my avatar of Shiva.

Previously Zaara wrote: "You mean there is no GOD MAN?
I am crushed and disappointed."
Now I'm a bit less crushed and disappointed...
Still really angry tho'...
*That raspberry GIF*

Just curious, why did you choose Shiva? Just bcuz you liked the pic or do you like reading abt the Indian mythos?

It's not Shiva like the actual god Shiva. It's a summons character from Final Fantasy, a game I used to love.

I know Shiva... sounds like shiver... casts ice magic...
I remember how in FF8 using Odin in the Seifer fight would get him killed and replaced with Gilgamesh...

WHAT? Mind blown. Now must go play the game again. It's been a while since I did VIII. Squall would get on my nerves with his mega pessimism. Which is ironic since I love Kaladin so much for the same pity me behavior lol.

FF8 was my first FF... FF9 was my second, and still one of my favorites... these days I've played/beaten most FFs (1-3,5,7-13, Tactics 1&2, Crystal Chronicle)
I never actually beat FF8... my discs froze on the Ultimecia fight at the end of the game... ARGH!!!... FF8 was loaded with so many obscure quest... like the alien one...
I actually prefer the Disgaea games more, since finding them on the PS2... they're strategy RPGs that progress to level 9999 and millions/billions of stats...

I'll take his spot. I've been waiting to read that series for forever.

I'm backing out of Malazan, Zaara. I overbooked myself :( it's too big a commitment.

7 was my first, and has since been played at least 4 times. I did 7,8,9, 10, and then I went back to do 3-6, and then x-2, and then 13. Also crisis core (which i have yet to finish) and dirge of Cerberus (which I have yet to finish). You can say I really love the ff franchise. :-)
I have never heard of Disgaea. Is it role playing? I like role playing games the most. I didn't finish Dirge of Cerberus cuz they changed it to be more like a 1st person shooter, and that's not my thing.

If you do that I might join you. I'm so overbooked but I have already missed a round of Malazan and I'm afraid there won't be another.

See that's xactly why I'm angry...
@Iain can't back out of Malazan...bcuz if he goes, everyone goes with him...it started with Stormblessed....and now Siobhan...
Ppl will leave in scads and droves, you big superstar Iain you...you know you keep everyone together,
Everyone will leave...
It will be like one of those terribly depressing stock market crashes...

Disgaea is a Strategy RPG like Final Fantasy Tactics and other games like it... there are 6 games spread across the PS2/3/4... the PS2 ones have been ported to Steam/PC... they are jam-packed full of mechanics and leveling systems, and have hilarious plots that don't take themselves too seriously...

I haven't opened the spoiler yet, but I AM planning to show up for Garden... I just dunno if I'll make it any further at the moment... Garden is the test... I'll probably try it on audio as well as kindle...
I read most of the spoiler... I'm starting to think this is self-serving :)... she wants us to read Garden of the Moon with her because it's the one time we'd for sure be reading the same book... I'm still waiting for Zaara's thoughts on Valor, or Before they are Hanged, or Son of the Shadows... the followups to Malice, The Blade Itself, and Daughter of the Forest...
You're right, there are too many books, Zaara... and I just keep gorging on them... that's my problem... dropping Malazan for the time being seems more efficient than dropping 2-3 other series (and signing up for less June onwards )to get the same effect...

After Gardens I may too...for all the Dark Goddess reasons earlier outlined....

Of course its self-serving...my devilish cunning notwithstanding...I can't be clueless alone.

EDIT TO ADD: but Siobhan don't you go and be thinking that I wrote this motherhonking essay JUST BECAUSE I wanted you guys there as camouflage and not for your company...cuz thazzz just...rubbish. You know that you lot make everything awesomer, no? And you know I mean that when I say it, right? I only just wrote five hundred words cuz I really want you guys to come as YOU GUYS. And I wanted Morte to come. And Jaykro. I've only been Malazan campaigning for months now.
I'm greedy. I want to read all the books with ALL the ppl. But xpecially you 3.
Don't you be believing the Dark Priest, Jaghut. My motives are pure as the driven snow...well, ok, kinda slightly mottled snow.
****END OF EDIT***
I haven't started Book 2 of anything xept the Abercrombie...but then I never signed up on those threds....
I'm working long days teaching English in the Third World...I'm just a weary mess at the end of the day...volunteering is...well, its heavy on the feels with all you get to see...

This gave me a chuckle. Now I'm picturing all these Third World citizens speaking in these long, stream of consciousness type sentences. :-)

This is why we love you, Z. :-)

We had a complaint about an ethnic slur in this thread included in a spoiler which has been deleted. The mods were scratching our heads a bit because none of us are British and apparently this term is only used there. In our google searches it definitely leans towards the more offensive and not something benign like limey or kiwi.
Please be careful using terms as such. In the context I don't believe the poster meant offense so we'll just leave it at that for now.

I replied in that thread. I'm not sure why that topic was included in this discussion. Here's in as few words as possible without being too specific what the deal is.
You posted a term that in Britain could be as benign as limey or as inflammatory as the N word. None of the mods being from the UK we had no clue. In the context it was written none of the mods thought it was a big deal. However it was reported by somebody feeling that others might find it offensive. This person in no way singled you out nor did they ask for your suspension or anything of that sort. They merely asked we delete the post to save somebody else's feelings in case they were hurt by it.
The comment was in this thread not guns of the dawn.
Thus all we did was remove the post and ask that everybody remember slang can be hurtful even if you're from that heritage and would use it amongst friends at home.
Cuz the poster...I bet...she didn't even know...."

Huh I didn't open the spoiler tag as I am planning on reading Malazan in January and am on critical spoiler avoidance alert. But I have to admit to being a bit curious about this word (not that I expect to be told, it's not my business). However I'm from the UK and can't think of any word that fits that description. Still better to be safe than sorry...

All the best for the Team Reading Competition, Lain.
