How'd you do that Fin?
I know to insert a link...I just dunno how to do the jumping thing where the link goes to a specific old post...

- The second book of the Small Medium series is being recorded right now; he's hoping for a release before Christmas
- An audiobook for the first book of his prequel series (Blasphemy online) has been confirmed; narration will most likely be done by TGR
- There might be a Threadbare #4 in the future

Looking forward to the audiobook releases... I think I knew there was an open possibility of more Threadbare after this Small Medium series (and the Blasphemy series that is now going that wasn't then)...

😂😂😂
Also Hookworm reminds me of Hookwolf, imagine him with those worms popping up all over his body!

Eeew... But Taylor would eat him for breakfast then, so it's fine :p

As she says, EEEEWRPP!
Everyone is in really gross high spirits today....
Taylor is the MC of WORM, and she just keeps proving to be stronger and stronger as the story progresses and she thinks of new ways to use her powers...
This is one of those series that sounds cool on paper, but would probably be a complete horror show to watch...

I got into a Cultivation story kick because of the Cradle series. It totally hits all of the old school martial arts training to fight and adventure movie points.

:D
I know I have a pile of recommendations to dig through... definitely plan to at some point... focus in October was BR points... November/December is about clearing up open series I haven’t finished or caught up on...

Iain, take it easy dude. Do what ya need to do for health & fun. Saw your post about work. Glad you are ok.

Thanks... followed Niki's suggestion and started my own End of Year Incomplete Series Challenge thread to run thru New Year's, similar to the Niki vs Virginie thread from last year...
And definitely paying attention to my health/routine... this morning was a bit of a wakeup call about problems with my current one...

You're talking about the Cradle series, right? I've had my eyes on it for a while :)
Planning on reading the webnovel Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation next year as well; I've been watching the donghua (chinese anime) adaptation, and it's great.
Also have The First Step on my Kindle... But if you've got more recs for good Cultivation stories, I'll gladly take them :D

It turns out my fav eBook Reader has updated it's TTS and it's pretty good! Except for certain words it can't recognize and then it's kind of wacky. Which makes me rethink using it as an option. There are MANY books I could listen to without Audible if I have a good TTS reader.
What do you like about the one you use? Is it for Android?

I'm cool with starting it when it comes out on 1/30 or soon after.

VoiceDream is a paid app... it comes with a dozen free voice options, and 100 you can buy if you want if they strike your fancy... there are gender/accent voices... main setting I play with is the words per minute reading speed... it goes from 100-600, I think, but I’ve mostly listened at 200-250...
I have iPhone...

Hm, well. I guess I still have an option if I feel kind of desperate. lol

There's actually some variation in my TTS app, I think, but in general I think it has similar issues... I haven't tried much fantasy yet, but it says things like VCRs as v-c-r-s instead of v-c-rs... I generally accept narration is better, but TTS is better than nothing...

Anytime the week after release works for me...

eReader: Librera Pro:
I used the free version for a long time & upgraded to the one time paid version because I love the app. I wanted to support the developers. =)
- Reads & updates from designated Root Folder. It has a ton of features that make people happy.
- Supports most text/ebook formats. I can even read music charts on it! I haven't tested out that part too much but it works.
- In the last year, they updated the TTS & I like it. I can up the narration speed to 4x and use different TTS engines for the voice.
- Odd spelling of words issue, I changed the font/format to a standard/plain one for the book and that took care of 90% of what I noticed before.
Evie:
Of the TTS narration apps I tried, this one was the best.
- Free
- Natural Narration
- Only up speed to 2x
- Somewhat limited features but it works.
---- It was fun to go off & explore where the tech has gone since I tried this 2 years ago. =D
Sounds good... got em all lined up and waiting... doing so many BRs has me wondering if I'm going to get to all the long series I want to progress this year (Realm of the Elderlings, Malazan, Riftwar)... been making good progress on Hercule Poirot, but they're so short I can fit them in anywhere I want, really... also been a while since I read any Anne Perry mysteries, and that's another 30-50 books to read...
Meanwhile, I keep eyeing other series from KU/etc, like these Otori books, Odyssey One, Descent, etc... even considering continuing with the Hellequin Chronicles sequels despite my grumbles...

My recommendation for reading:
Dead of Night series: Book 1, 2, 2.5 & then 3.
Rot & Ruin 1-4, #5 is a Short Story Collection
Broken Lands 1-2 (Ongoing, 2 Books out)
I'm currently wrapping up Dead of Night and going to gobble down Rot & Ruin. R&R & BL are YA. So, I'm not sure if I'll gobble it down as fast. lol
If you're in the mood for average people doing bizarre things, look at Promise Falls series by Linwood Barclay. The books have a Twin Peaks vibe. Good characters, interesting plot. Okay to iffy endings.
Nick Heller series by Joseph Finder - 4 Books & the MC is like a covert ops badass.
Nathaniel Cade series by Christopher Farnsworth is a great UF series with a Vampire that works for the US government.
I'm definitely planning to get everything caught up and re-activated... once the 2021 sheet is sorted...

Can you believe that's a yoga mat??? LOL

- Don't hit his face!
- Don't sit on his face!
- Watch those hands, Solo!
- At least I am alive and breathing, while you are in polyester freezville.
This chat got weird... altho, it is basically what I was thinking when I read the planking comment and looked it up to confirm...

I had 3 duds for books today. Well, the 3rd one could be an ok LitRPG. I just may need to give it more time to establish.
So I gave up on it for now and turned to First Law. Not sure why I don't spree the series but at least it's reliable to be a good to great story.

I took the day off and watched like 30-40 episodes of Brooklyn 99... almost out of episodes after only 2 weeks, since they're short comedy sitcom episodes...

Not doing very good at catching up on 2020 stuff... but trying to do better about maintaining 2021 stuff, so I don't fall further behind...
