(view spoiler)[ President Snow is super creepy. The description of him makes my skin crawl. I forgot just how much the description of him makes my skin crawl.

Also, I remember being annoyed at Katniss throughout this book and I already can feel myself sympathizing with her more. I mean... she doesn't get a chance to figure out how she feels about Peeta at all. She literally has to either learn to love him or pretend to for forever and that freakin' sucks. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 4 -13
(view spoiler)[ There are so many little details that weren't in the movie. Like Plutarch showing Katniss his watch that flashes with the Mockingjay. And then her helping those two people escape. The movies were very focused on the rebellion and because of that they seemed to lose some of Katniss' humanity. She not as selfish... or maybe that isn't the right word, but there is a difference between book Katniss and movie Katniss. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 14 - 18

Also Cinna doing what he did with the dress is so brilliant and brave. It's clear everyone is so angry about all of this nonsense.

(view spoiler)[ I still really enjoyed this one. Probably more so than the first one. Not only do you catch a glimpse about all these other tributes, but you get to see just how these games can shape them it's usually not for the better. This is a system that breaks people and it's horrible. I did forget how little of the games took place throughout this one, but it's really setting everything up for the next one. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 6-9:
(view spoiler)[The whole scene with the hospital and the bombings was so well done! Katniss's speech gives me chills, especially when she says the last few lines- "Fire is catching and if we burn, you burn with us!"
I'm so sad about Peeta. He's just so innocent and does not deserve to be tortured by Snow. All he ever did was love Katniss :(
Also, President Coin and Plutarch are definitely sketchy. I feel like they want to win this war just so they can have power. (hide spoiler)]

I was not expecting Finnick to reveal that Snow sold his body to Capital residents. I just want to give Finnick a big hug and tell him everything's going to be alright. I'm so happy that him and Annie were reunited. That was such a cute scene.
And what a twist with Peeta getting back only for Katniss to find out that he's been brainwashed into despising her!!! (hide spoiler)]

I feel so bad for Johanna. Really, all of the characters that were being tortured in the Capital. Johanna, Peeta, and Annie. They all deserved so much better.
Things are really coming to a head with the war. I'm excited to start reading about the group's journey through the Capital "arena." (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[What a great finale. The first half of the book was a bit slow, but once I hit chapter 19, it was hard to put it down. I loved that the ending was bleak with a glimmer of hope. I feel like that fit the narrative well. I think it was realistic of war and didn't try to wrap up the story with a perfect bow. This one was probably my favorite of the three. (hide spoiler)]
