Beginning chapter 6 of Blind Date. Fyfield tends to be slow in setting things up but already beginning to see some possible connexions - 'possible' because Fyfield likes to surprise us. Also wondering how Emma;s murder connects with the present characters & if Elizabeth's close resemblance to her sister will continue to play a role. I hope so because I love stories where characters have doubles, as in The Likeness.
'and the hands of the clock would always remain at ten to three' (p80) - bit obvious an allusion that.
Just posted some speculations to the spoiler thread. Am about 100 pages from finishing & it looks like this will be a good one!
'Joe had the knack of copying vioces' (p. 195).
A favourite quotation from Our Mutual Friend occurs to me: 'He do the police in different voices.'

Finished about 2330 GMT. Don't plan to post review till end of month; like to let these things simmer but expect it'll be a ****.
