I first read this book while I was in elementary school- I want to say grade 5. I remembered parts of it, but not very much! I recently re-read it accidentally (Thought it was selected in here, but alas, something else won out) I listened to it on audiobook, and it was such a joy to listen to.
I haven't checked to see if it's available on audio from my library, but that's a good idea. I love re-reading with audio, it gives you a whole new POV on the book. I loved this when I first read it, though :)
I never got around to reading this as a child, probably because my tastes ran toward mystery rather than science fiction back then. I enjoyed the book, but don't have the same affection as others who discovered it in childhood.BTW, does anyone think Charles Wallace is just a tad creepy?
I find him creepier in the movie than in the book so far (just starting a re-read), but they haven't left on their adventure yet, so we'll see how I feel later.
I'd forgotten about Mrs. Whatsits scarves! So funny!

This was made into a movie? I can't wait to see it. I did not read this as a child, though I don't know why no one ever recommended it to me. Just at the part where they have left the Happy Medium. Enjoying the book so far and I agree with Britany, I find Charles Wallace endearing, though I guess I can see how some might find him creepy.
He is, sort of, in a "not normal child" kind of way, but he's good-hearted and you do really root for him.
