When the thrill of conversion fades....

Have you had a conversion or life-changing moment that made you take your faith seriously? You realized without a doubt how close Jesus was to you. And you felt safe.

But those feelings of security don't always last. While God is ever-present and always caring for us, we don't always feel that presence. In fact sometimes it seems that God is far away and that He has left us to "go it alone."

What do you do in those times? How do you remain faithful?

My spiritual life is and always has been pretty dry. There are a few special moments though, in which I was acutely aware of the Blessed Mother's presence. Remembering those moments is helpful, but mainly I remind myself that it's in those times where we feel most alone that our faithfulness and obedience are most meaningful.
