Does this author have any cuss words? Does anybody know of any cozy mystery book that has a hardware in it that burns down?

I've only read this one and yes there is quite a bit of swearing.

I don't know of any books for your 2nd question. I'm not sure that this is the best place to get an answer as this book is a hard boiled detective/noir kind of book not a cosy mystery.

I read "Devil in a Blue Dress" as research for my novel which I've set in New Orleans. Yes, the book is a typical detective story with stereotyped characters and a hardened detective. The writing style reminded me of "The Maltese Falcon" although Mosley's work doesn't quite reach up to that standard. But he definitely has a following. If you like the rough and tough detective stories, you'll enjoy this.

About the same amount of profanity that you'd hear at a stand-up comedy show. For better or worse, that kind of language is consistent with how a character of that time and genre would speak.

It's great detective story. Some cussing, some violence and sex too. I don't read much of Mosley's books because of the violence and sex, but Devil in a Blue Dress is not too bad.
