Omg! I have books all over everywhere. I have pre-orders that are a year old!! I'm going to have to look more into this thread challenge later. I'm falling asleep 😴

Haha that's funny!! Why is it the good sales always happen right when you decide to moderate buying? Lol
4 books and I paid $3. now I need to read 12 to make up for it. XD ooh boy. I hope I can without buying more. with the rules for this does buying to continue a series count?

There are a few ways you can customize this to make it work for you. I've done it so that my "reward" for reading is not a single book, but a dollar amount to be spend on books (say, a single book purchase for $10+ or a dollar reward of up to $10 in books. It means you have more books at home, but at least your accounting for the unpredictable good sales that come up and don't send yourself into challenge "debt" for it lol.
You also might consider the bookend challenge instead of the buying ban one, meaning you don't have to limit buying, but your focus then turns to the newest and oldest books in your collection, so the ones you buy don't sit there forever. That's how I plan to handle first in series (that and using library copies). If you do continue the book buying ban thing, I'd say don't count books purchased for series continuation if you read them right away. :)
If I'm not careful I'm going to convolute the heck out of this challenge lol.
I'm having a hard time deciding which challenge I want to do. I think I might try the Borrowing Ban Challenge first.

My audible library is also rather manageable, so all I need is a quick two-for-one book ban challenge.
My physical library needs all the mini challenges it can get.
I would just like to share that I drove by a bookstore during my lunch hour today and I did not go in. I repeat...I. Did. Not. Go. In. :-)

Hhaha oh, the will power!! There should be some sort of challenge bonus for that haha.
It was a near thing Niki, but I kept telling myself that I hadn't read my six already-own-it books yet to earn the one new book credit. So this mini-book buying challenge was definitely rolling around in the back of my mind screaming "keep driving!", helping me to be good.

I'm thrilled to hear it's helping! It helped me on a book sale the other day. I decided I'd rather spend my credit on a Brandon Sanderson than yet one more YA that'll collect dust for 10 years. It's sooo hard to break the habits haha.
If you were able to resist a book sale, then you really deserve a prize....er, not a book though. I don't think I'm quite that strong yet, lol.

I'm still totally going to focus on books I own, but I'm not going to force myself to read the things if I want to read an unowned book more. But if they're equal opportunity reads, heck yeah I'm going to pick the one that helps my challenge. :P

I really have a hard time with the singsong voices and overexcitement (overacting) about everything. I vow that if I ever find the time to start one, I'll talk like a normal human being lol.

The end date is when you have no more purchased books left to read. 😁

This is a great challenge. Perfect for me! I need to stop buying! I've gotten to buying e-books recently because of lack of space. And so many are unread! I need help! And the sales and low prices over here are not helping at all! I mean how can a girl resist when she can get the entire Sevenwaters Series for just 2 bucks!!! You see. I cannot be blamed!Can I start with this challenge anytime? Or is there a fixed date like say beginning of the year? Would it be ok to start say next week and time it for a year?

I think I need to start this too. It's always at the back of my mind to read the books I own, but I keep bringing more home!
We are very relax at the rules for this challenge. Each person chose their own goals and rules. Check the folders for inspiration.
I'd like to go for the book buying ban challenge. Read 3 before buying 1. I'm not joking when I say I have hundreds unread. Mostly e-books and the best part is I even forgot at 1 time that I had a book in e-book format and went and bought the paperback also.
These days I've been working on a list of owned books in both formats so I don't repeat the experience of buying double.
I've made a shelf on here for books I own physically and one for books I own on kindle. That kinda helps me to remember!

I did that a lot, lol.
3 for 1 is a great start. I did that at the beginning, but since then I updated mine to 5 for 1. This challenge has really helped me to focus at the stuff hiding at my kindle, lol.

did you girls make the shelf on goodreads? Like Owned to read? If I make one like that aren't my GR friends going to be overflowed with my notifications? I was thinking that may disturb a few people.
You can go to accounting settings and disable the notifications when you are adding books to your shelves. After you are done you can select the notification options again. :)

I just have to un-click the "Add a book to your shelves" option before adding the books and then re click it when I'm done?

thank you Miche. I'm doing that now. Making a shelf for paperbacks. :) Got a bad cold and can't do much reading with it anyway. So I'm listening to some nice latin songs and going through my bookshelves. The best remedy till the tabs do their work. :)
