flag

And sometime Monday or Tuesday I'll probably put up my thread.
You know, I didn't even think about that Bill...
But now I'll proudly fly that flag and say yes, I AM the title master

Haha that's funny!! Why is it the good sales always happen right when you decide to moderate buying? Lol

There are a few ways you can customize this to make it work for you. I've done it so that my "reward" for reading is not a single book, but a dollar amount to be spend on books (say, a single book purchase for $10+ or a dollar reward of up to $10 in books. It means you have more books at home, but at least your accounting for the unpredictable good sales that come up and don't send yourself into challenge "debt" for it lol.
You also might consider the bookend challenge instead of the buying ban one, meaning you don't have to limit buying, but your focus then turns to the newest and oldest books in your collection, so the ones you buy don't sit there forever. That's how I plan to handle first in series (that and using library copies). If you do continue the book buying ban thing, I'd say don't count books purchased for series continuation if you read them right away. :)
If I'm not careful I'm going to convolute the heck out of this challenge lol.

Added: The Book Pledge Mini Challenge
The Book Pledge Challenge
Do you like challenges but don't have the time or energy to get really complicated with them? The Book Pledge Challenge might be the one for you!
How it works:
Decide how many books you'd like to read from your personal collection within a given timeframe. Then track your progress towards your goal:
Niki's Book Pledge Challenge [Goal: 5 by 12/2017]:

I seem to be doing a different mini challenge for each format. My digital library isn't out of control, so all I need is the Book Pledge Challenge.
My audible library is also rather manageable, so all I need is a quick two-for-one book ban challenge.
My physical library needs all the mini challenges it can get.

Hhaha oh, the will power!! There should be some sort of challenge bonus for that haha.

I'm thrilled to hear it's helping! It helped me on a book sale the other day. I decided I'd rather spend my credit on a Brandon Sanderson than yet one more YA that'll collect dust for 10 years. It's sooo hard to break the habits haha.

This booktube video came across my radar today, and it made me laugh. He's essentially saying not to take your unread tbr too seriously, and I think it offers a good counter to how intense I can get with challenges like this.

I'm still totally going to focus on books I own, but I'm not going to force myself to read the things if I want to read an unowned book more. But if they're equal opportunity reads, heck yeah I'm going to pick the one that helps my challenge. :P
Have a good day, FBR. :)

Thanks for the video :)

Eh he should just join this challenge and read those books. On a side I do not enjoy youtubers. Think I'm too much of a grumpy old man.

I really have a hard time with the singsong voices and overexcitement (overacting) about everything. I vow that if I ever find the time to start one, I'll talk like a normal human being lol.

All this group's challenges are structural... since we make our own threads, we can do them whenever... I don't even think there's anything stopping us from repeating them later with different books... only limitation I've seen so far is Scott saying we can't do the A-Z one until 2018...

That is what so good about those challenges. No stress in planning. But I like the others too.
Bill wrote: "The end date is when you have no more purchased books left to read. 😁"
Haha, I'll never have an end date. I'm a book - a - holic to the bone :)

It's a great thread! I think I'll take pictures first from all of my books in my library at my house and then post them all in my topic.

Can I start with this challenge anytime? Or is there a fixed date like say beginning of the year? Would it be ok to start say next week and time it for a year?

You can definitely not be blamed at those bargain prices!! You'd be silly not to buy them! XD

Ha! That's what I keep telling my husband but he doesn't understand. :D

Welcome to the "we can't stop buying books" club. ;)"
Thank you. Glad to see I'm not alone with my book hoarding problem. :)

I'm not joking when I say I have hundreds unread. Mostly e-books and the best part is I even forgot at 1 time that I had a book in e-book format and went and bought the paperback also.
These days I've been working on a list of owned books in both formats so I don't repeat the experience of buying double.

I did that a lot, lol.
3 for 1 is a great start. I did that at the beginning, but since then I updated mine to 5 for 1. This challenge has really helped me to focus at the stuff hiding at my kindle, lol.

I have that too. I also check the shelves before buying a book, just in case, lol.

Got a bad cold and can't do much reading with it anyway. So I'm listening to some nice latin songs and going through my bookshelves. The best remedy till the tabs do their work. :)
