What was Shakespeare trying to show/prove?

I can't decide. Was this a tragic love story about how immature family disagreements can hurt the children more than the parents realize, despite them not having anything to do with it?

Or was it just written to show how foolish young lovers can be? Was it just lust? Were Romeo and Juliet written to be as ridiculously dumb as many see them as?

I feel like they were caught in lust. They met for five minutes, thought the other was attractive, spent a night together, and decided it was true love. They lied, went behind their parents backs, defied the law, and lets not forget Juliet still wanted him after he was just a little hotheaded and viciously killed her cousin, even though he was listening to his gut to protect his family. And why does the family hate each other. Because a great great great grandpa stole a goat from the other after he took a sheep out of a random field. At least something like that. The families were incredibly immature, killing one another and letting it get in the way of life. They should have moved, out of sight, out of mind. But no, they wanted them out of sight dead and buried. I honestly can't tell what Shakespeare was trying to show. That adults can be stupid and childish even during the victorian era, where we think all was perfect?
