Caitlyn Leffler This summer I read the book, Into the Water, by: Paula Hawkins. I enjoyed this book a lot because I enjoy other books and television shows with mysteries and as soon as this book began I found myself constantly questioning what will happen next. Additionally, in the past I read the novel, “The Girl On The Train” by the same author which I found very interesting, so I wanted to read this novel. I found that both books not only were similar in the way that they both were mysteries, but that they both shifted narrators between different characters. I liked this aspect of the novel because it allowed me to see all of the different point of views of each character and learn new information about them as individuals. Overall, I strongly recommend this novel for all readers who love mysteries.
Likewise, this summer I read the novel, What She Left Behind, by: Ellen Marie Wiseman. I chose this book because I find it very interesting when novels have two different time periods involved in one story line, and the contrast between the past and present bring the reader on a journey. Likewise, this book incorporates themes that are very common in today’s society like, suicidal teens, separated families, and the foster care system. I found it important this book covered these topics, because they are very serious issues that citizens often times try to neglect, and by including them more people can be more knowledgeable of their hardships. Although very serious matters are included, I also enjoyed having a happy ending at the end of the book to have a sense of comfort finishing the novel. Therefore, this novel was very interesting and I believe other teens will enjoy this novel as well.
