The book I am looking for is a historical romance (Regency/Victorian England) that is part of a series. In the book, the heroine (I think her name is Lady Ophelia or something like that, but I am not sure) is a widow and constantly exchanges insults/put downs with the hero. The hero does not know why the heroine does this, but he is aware that she was mistreated severely in her previous marriage. He thinks the heroine is very cold and unfeeling. (view spoiler)[ It is later revealed that the heroine suffered almost 13-14 miscarriages in her previous marriage b/c her husband was desperate to have an heir. A physician advised that the heroine not try to have children anymore, but the husband ignored this advice and kept trying. The hero reveals later to the heroine that he noticed that she looked very sick and like she lost weight the times that he saw her and worried for her in her marriage. I believe there is some speculation as to whether she killed her husband or not to save herself, and I believe it ends up that the heroine's mother killed her daughter's husband (but I am not sure about this detail). I read this book in the past year, and believe it was published within the last 5 years.
