Do you relate in any way to the main character?

I found this book extremely moving and inspiring, as well as informative. Even though I am not a musician and do not know much about music, I felt that the main character's passion for music was completely understandable, and I could see that a passion for anything -- a talent, a hobby, an interest - could serve the same purpose for a person as music did for this girl . I am wondering if other readers - adults or children - feel the same.
