Lieke | 1724 comments I finished my first book of the month a reread of Moordenaar des Konings by Robin Hobb. Like the first book I didn't remember a lot of the story, and it is so good!
Looking forward to reading the next book in october.

Lieke | 1724 comments Tears where flowing when I finished A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness this morning.
A beautiful but sad book.
I need something uplifting now.

Lieke | 1724 comments I finished Damin Wolfsblad by Jennifer Fallon.
I liked it better then them first book. It started good, but that ending was even better. Looking forward to reading the last book in the series next month.

I was a sad mess too when I finished.

Lieke | 1724 comments I finished my first Terry Pratchett book: Wacht! Wacht! (Guard! Guard!).
I liked it, but there where a few parts that where strange. Since I read a translation I'm not sure how much is due to the translation.

Lieke | 1724 comments Today I read Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris.
Fun but it didn't click the same way as some previous books.

message 22: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 1724 comments I took The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells of my plan this month becaue I couldn't find my copy and ofcourse now I found it. In the place where I looked three times before.....
Since I didn't want to loose it again I read it immediately ;)
I liked the story and the idea of the story. Also liked the writing most of the time.

I found from this point onwards, Lieke that the books were no longer as they good use to be. I think it was around this point that the TV show started and after that I felt like it declined the quality of the books.

Lieke | 1724 comments I have recently watched the first two episodes with my sister (she had seen them before) and all I could say was: thats different and thats different and ....
Not sure yet if I will watch more episodes, maybe when it has been a bit longer since I read the books.

Since it is only four more books and they are not very long I plan to finish the series. Will see what I think of the rest of the books.
But I stil found this one fun to read.

Lieke | 1724 comments I listened to De Reuzenperzik (James and the Giant Peach) by Roald Dahl.

And this morning I finished Goldenhand by Garth Nix. I love this world and enjoyed this book very much.

I stopped watching the after season 1. I just didn't like the characters and the constant sex. The books are much better.

I echo Angela's thoughts on the Sookie series in those last books. I don't know if she was stretching things out to capitalize on the tv show being on the air (or, to be fair, if it was her publisher that was wanting that) but something felt off. I still have never read the very last book.
