So, I've read all three just this year, and here's my "two cents".

Mistborn was a fantastic read! Easy storyline that includes characters who are instantly loveable, with a small but necessary lull in the middle, and a phenominal ending that crushes your senses.

Dragonbone Chair is a masterfully written piece of literature best experienced by a fireplace/space heater in a quiet room in the dead of winter with your favorite warm beverage, peace and quiet, and a bag of pistachios! Just hunker down and dig in for an experience. It starts slow as this is where Williams does his world building but it's totally worth the push through.

The Name of the Wind was my first fantasy novel that I read in ten years to get me back into the genre, and I finished it in 4 days! To describe it without any spoilers, I'd say that it's an adult Harry Potter with vastly different magic system that is actually logical in its creation. Lots of parts that make you smile, cheer, and laugh.

So in comparison, you've got a strawberry daiquiri in Mistborn (pleasant but crushing), a fine wine in Dragonbone Chair (delightful sophistication that tantilizes your senses), and a beer in The Name of the Wind (not fancy, but fun)!

Oh! And all of these books are 5 star ratings for me...So whatever you pick, you're good!

Martin Apergis Chris thank you so much for your time and effort you took to inform me! I found your descriptions of the books very enlightening especially comparing them to drinks! t
I so love the sound of sitting by a fire with pistachios and a copy of Dragonbone chair! But I like to savor good things if indeed it is that good when I am a more .....(skillful)? reader! I will start with Sanderson I think.
Thanks m8 that was awesome of you.

Sanderson is definitely a good choice! I haven't read Elantris yet, I've only read Mistborn. I saw online the other day that Brandon is starting to work on a sequel for Elantris though so I was thinking of starting it soon. If you'd like to read it together, let me know!

You need a PC to do most things related to groups I think...

As long as a folder exists for an author (like Sanderson), you just click on it and from there can create a new topic for a book... if it's a new author without a folder, you need a mod to set up a folder first (this is a very organized group :) )

From there we just make a plan for when to start and alert the mods in another thread so they can update the master lists and people can choose to join in or not...

Once that time comes, just mark what chapter you are talking about and use < spoiler > tags so you/we don't ruin the book for others who aren't that far yet < /spoiler >

It's easier for us if we create all the topics, mostly so we can make sure the bookshelf and master list are updated at the same time. It feels like a never ending domino effect lol.

Here's a link with more "what is a buddy read info" even though Iain did a great job explaining.

Chris (murphy44) | 710 comments Well if we can settle on a date to start the read, we can get Niki to set it up for us! What would be the best time to read Elantris for you guys?

I'm in the middle of three books right now. So, I might be able to catch up in a week or so, but not earlier. If you don't wait, that's cool, I'll still read the thread if there is one.

message 65: by Martin (new)

Martin Apergis sure Chris I'm sure you 'll catch up with me in a slow reader especially now I've added a Jack Reacher book to my list. if it's a week that's not long. I'll slow down a bit so we can go through Elantris together. I'm on pg 200 now
