This series is about people who have different abilities like shifting and energy type whips. There are try outs to see if new people can join the ranks and are not happy with the possibility of the very first female in the military. This is a multiple book series I read these books a couple years ago. Some facts in the book are the pool is shaped like a bat and they have different flavors of blood like chocolate and low calorie in a bottle.

Was this a kindle/ereader or a physical book? Any clue of the author's gender?
Iread the books on my table and I am not 100% sure if the author wase male or female. Sorry.
