Mickey's practice ran into tough times so now he's handling foreclosures. With his talents, why does he seem to have challenges with success?

There certainly wouldn't be a shortage of people needing defense attorneys. I'm not sure why he would have to start handling foreclosures instead of criminal defense. I'm wondering if he was already thinking about giving up the defense business in hopes that Maggie would accept him.

He mentioned that people didn't have money to spend on lawyers so I guess they were using public defenders. But, by now with all of the high profile successes he's had I though his practice should be thriving. It was opportunistic to take advantage of the foreclosure business but this seemed more like a survival move, which surprised me.
