For our first book, we have chosen to focus on English authors, to celebrate where the book fairies originated. We have chosen a theme of 'Classics' as we are going to be focussing on classics on 2nd September, and it often seems that there are so many that we haven't got round to reading! So... get voting using the link below :)

So without further ado, here are the options!

- Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
- Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
- The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte
- Animal Farm by George Orwell
- Lord of the Flies by William Golding

Here is where you can vote (it is so so quick): http://ibelieveinbookfairies.com/vote...

Garance (bgarance) | 10 comments Thanks Cordelia. The choice was hard to make, I've been meaning to read many of the 5. Can't wait to see the results. When will they be known?

Um... this time tomorrow I expect!

message 5: by Kristina (new)

Kristina I hated Lord of the Flies and in middle school, I wrote a five page paper why I couldn't finish reading Animal Farm because I found it so terrible. It's an ongoing joke that the books Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm continue to haunt me and here were are. Hysterical! Oh, and if you're wondering about that paper, my teacher said she couldn't give me a grade for it but she wouldn't fail me either. Secretly, she agreed with my points.

De Citron Corrigan (corrmice) | 12 comments Tess, oh tess....fingers crossed. read animal farm and Lord of the flies in school

message 13: by emalazereth (new)

emalazereth | 4 comments Animal Farm! I know every book fairy loves to read but with the story being so short, I think it would be a great first choice. More fairies could have the chance to finish Mr. Orwell's book. I heard it was published in August!

CR (crreader) I have never even heard of some of these books. Will you be choosing newer ones in all age groups in the future?

Possibly! It will be a different theme each month, with the aim to bring different types of books into people's lives :)

I also voted for Tess! :)

message 24: by Susan (new)

Susan | 9 comments I had to study Lord of the flies at school and I absolutely hated it! it would be interesting to see if, as an adult, I react differently to it. I have already read Tess of the d'ubervilles and quite enjoyed it but I'd really like one of the other three to be picked as I haven't read those and I find it hard to reread books. animal farm is something that I wouldn't pick up normally so would definitely fit the idea of taking us out of our comfort zones.
