c | 150 comments Didn't know that!! Can I read books in August and count them for this challenge? That's the only thing I'm worried about

message 52: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments I'll double check, but I think you can as long as you tell them how much you read in August and how much you read in september.

message 53: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay! Let me know!

message 54: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Points:
*50 - 100 pages = 0.5 points
*101 - 199 pages = 1 point
*200 - 299 pages = 2 points
*300 - 399 pages = 3 points
and so on... (maximum of 6 points per book)
*Poetry/Graphic novels/illustrated books = 1/3 of above points, so a 300 page book is worth 1 point.
*Buddy reads DOUBLE your points score, so a 300 page book + buddy read = 6 points. (Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in our group.)
*Re-reads are okay as long as it has been at least 1 year since you last read the book.

Rules:
* This challenge will run from September 1st to September 30th, with results announced on October 1st.
*Books started before September can be used, but you must only claim the number of pages read in September.
*Buddy reads must still have a minimum of 4 comments to count.
*4 detailed updates can be used instead of a review.
* You can find our regular challenge rules here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Based off this yes you can

c | 150 comments Oh ok! I'll keep track of what I read from this point on!

message 56: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Here's a review Maddison did earlier this month so you can see how to post them.

Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini
Block: Severus Snape!
Description: 394+ pages
Pages: 789 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... (but 74% read this month, so 584 pages read)
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Buddy: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 57: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Perfect, percent wise is probably the easiest so that way you can find the highest page count and take your percentage from that. Hope that made sense. :P

message 58: by c (new)

c | 150 comments What does block mean?

message 59: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments That's just for the Harry Potter challenge, we won't have that for the "Read Whatever You Want" Challenge. All you need is the book title/cover, the pages (w/ a link), your review (w/ a link), and a buddy read link if you did one.

message 60: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay sweet! This is so overwhelming lol

message 61: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments It gets to be pretty routine after the first couple ones. Mega Month Challenge is crazy because there's like 3 competitions going on in one month, but it's also crazy fun.

message 62: by c (new)

c | 150 comments I hope so!! I'm still pretty new with all of the groups, and I get pretty caught up in it.

message 63: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments This group is like the only one I'm super active in haha. But I love it when I'm not crazy busy.

message 64: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Same here! I'm going to go read the book thief for the first time, I'm so so so excited!!

message 65: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments The book thief was really good, but really sad.

message 66: by c (new)

c | 150 comments I'm hoping I like it

message 67: by c (new)

c | 150 comments @Amanda Do you still want to read Blood Promise? If so, can you request a thread?

message 68: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Also, can anyone tell me how to request a thread?

message 69: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments So first you'll need to find an existing thread if there is one which you can do by using the box near the top of the page. It says something like search discussion posts. Once you find that link copy it and then post it on the "September Buddy Reads" thread along with the date and an image of the book.

Sept thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 70: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments If you need helping creating a thread I can tell you how to do that too :)

message 71: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Yes please :) I want to create a thread for A Dog's Purpose

message 72: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments So go to the group's home page and then find the category like YA: Realistic Fiction or Adult fiction. Click on that folder and at the top there should be a plus sign or create a new topic. Then you fill out the topic with the book name and when you are starting the buddy read. I like to put the book in where it says this topic is about. And for the first post I like to copy and paste the book summary in that. You can bold it with < b> and b>. No spaces between that and the first one goes at the beginning and the slash at the end.

message 73: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments ^^That's what I did with the 5th wave series thread

message 74: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay thanks so much!!!

message 75: by c (new)

c | 150 comments How do you add the book cover/where do you put it?

message 76: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Never mind I figured it out lol

message 77: by c (new)

c | 150 comments I did it! Lol

message 78: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Awesome!!

message 79: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Hopefully people join so I can count it for the challenge

message 80: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments You already have it planned with two people so if they don't show up you'll still get the points as long as you write your comments on it. Make sure you put it on the September planning thread so the mods know.

message 81: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay, how do I do that? Sorry for all of the questions

message 82: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Go to the thread I copied in my message above in message 69. And then post the book cover and the date you're starting so the 4th along with the thread link you made earlier.

message 83: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay thanks so much!!!!!!

message 84: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments You're welcome :)

message 85: by c (new)

c | 150 comments I can't wait for this readothon challenge

message 86: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments It should be fun!

message 87: by c (new)

c | 150 comments I'm going to need all of the motivation I can get because I get distracted very easily

message 88: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments I'm sure the competition will help :)

message 89: by c (new)

c | 150 comments I am very competitive person

message 90: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Haha same.

message 91: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Cori there is already a thread for A dog's purpose and it's set for the 5th of September.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 92: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Wow 😭 oh well

message 93: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments You can delete your thread if you want. Otherwise it will just hang out.

message 94: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay I'll delete it when I get on my computer

message 95: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Hey Cori, before you make new threads make sure you search for other ones using the "search discussion posts" box on the desktop version of goodreads. A lot of books already have at least one thread.

message 96: by c (new)

c | 150 comments Okay

message 97: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Less than a week before the challenge begins, hope everyone is excited!

message 98: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 575 comments Hi, everyone! I finally finished that job that had me super busy. I'll check what you guys are reading and the buddy reads and come back to tell you my tbr since I don't really have anything else other than The Lord of the Rings :D

message 99: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Sounds good. I'll post a revised list for myself later.

message 100: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 575 comments Cori, When are you reading The Last Olympian? (:
