Jacki I have a thing for not reading Christian authors. Most of the time i find them to "Jesus on the prairie" for my taste. But Afshar has constantly proven it is worth reading Christian Fiction. I will have to say though that her latest book is not my favorite. Her last two books I absolutely loved and her first I have re-read several times. But this time around I just wasn't as tickled. It is written just as skillfully as the others but the story over all just doesn't draw me in as the other three have. Although it is still worth reading as the story of Ruth is always a compelling and inspiring story, which I do think Afshar captured well. I would recommend reading her other books, Pearl in the Sand, Harvest of Rubies, and Harvest of Gold first though before venturing to this one. Would I say I'm dissapointed? absolutely not. I have learned that not ever book an author writes will be as stellar as the first one I fell in love with. Would I recommend this as the first Afshar book to read to my friends? Probably not. But if the story of Ruth just captures your heart and you're the type to enjoy story woven around a biblical woman and their life then this is your book, and if not book than at least your author.
