Mari Christie (marichristie) | 7 comments Can I please change the order of my books, so that one that is out of print is not the one featured, since you refuse to delete a book that was only ever in print for one week? Mari Christie

(And, by the by, your deletion policy is ridiculous, since authors should be the ones deciding which of their books to promote, and Google is doing a fine job collecting a list of every book in history without the assistance of Goodreads.)

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments message four in the link below explains what to do to change default edition

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If you mean the display on your author page then NO, those are ordered by number of reviews and 1 book has 1 review the others 0 reviews

Mari, the order of books on your author page is determined by which has been shelved by the most users.

And no one sees your dashboard but you, so the first one on the list is not being promoted in favor of your others.

Goodreads does not exist so that you can promote your books; it is here so that READERS can indulge their favorite activity and share and take pride in their collections.

AlegnaB † (alegnab) | 33 comments Thank you, Scott.

Mari, anyone who looks at the home page of Goodreads should notice that the site is primarily for readers. Many of us like to shelve the exact book editions we own or have read, so authors shouldn't be able to delete any editions that have been published.

Mari Christie (marichristie) | 7 comments Authors are not irrelevant to the interaction. Unless, of course, you want them to be, in which case, as time goes on, you will see your authors find other places to meet their readers.

I want to meet my authors on the written page and nowhere else. But then I read a lot of dead authors. They are not here trying to promote their books, by the way, and are still very much read.

This has gotten considerably off topic. Reminder: Librarians can help with issues pertaining to specific book records or most related issues, but have no control over general site functionality or related issues. Closing thread.
