SOLVED. Not sure if category is YA, Science Fiction Romance or dystopian; Girl at college, creatures (maybe demon dogs) are attacking everyone, rift opened up. She tries to flee in car. Humanoid male.

I downloaded a sample of this but accidentally deleted it awhile ago. The h is going to college. Her brother who lives with her parents contacts her to watch TV immediately. Apparently something catastrophic has happened and some rift has opened up. Some creatures are attacking everyone (they may be demon dogs). She gets her college roommate and they board themselves in their room but can see what is happening through the window. They decide to leave the room and group with other college students. They leave the dorm to try to escape. She gets separated from her friend and the main group along with a couple of male students. The males are attacked and killed. She gets in a car and is leaving to try to get to her family when her car is attacked. The creatures are trying to get in when they are attacked by some kind of humanoid male. I believe his skin is gray, he kills the animals and tries to communicate with her. That is all I can remember. Please let me know, thank you.
